Evangeline Lilly has come up with a way to both help the less fortunate and impress the Sawyer—or the Jack—in every woman's life.

The Lost star has launched R*Favela, a line of Brazilian-made lingerie being auctioned off on eBayto benefit Task Brazil, a U.S. nonprofit that provides housing, aid and guidance to children and teens living on the streets of the South American nation. A favela is a Brazilian slum or shantytown.

"Here on eBay I'm offering beautiful, Brazilian-made lingerie as a fun, enticing way for you to not only invest in yourself but in the poor and abandoned children of Brazil," Lilly said in a video statement.

Proceeds from every lace-trimmed camisole, pair of animal-print panties, antibacterial bra, etc. will go to Task Brazil.

Easthampton, MA, January 29, 2009-- The Others have released the first two companion songs for the fifth season of ABC's hit show Lost "Time is a Street" and "I Heart My Shih-Tzu". Get them first by joining "Transmissions from The Others", a subscription plan that let fans download the latest Others' song each week. Subscriptions are limited and enrollment ends on February 11, 2009 at 10pm EST, just after the fourth episode of Lost.

"Transmissions from The Others" is a paid subscription service directly from The Others. Those enrolling for the $8 subscription (that's less than $0.50 a song) will receive an email containing an MP3 of the latest Others' for each new episode of Lost until the finale of Season 5 as well as specials throughout the season. Those that enroll this this week will receive the first two songs, "Time is a Street" and "I Heart My Shih-Tzu".

The Others are will be releasing a song each week that Lost airs during Season 5. The songs will be available each week before the new episode airs, and can be purchased and streamed on The Others Myspace page: www.myspace.com/theotherslostband and The Others website www.theothers.thethungs.com. The current song can be purchased for $0.49 and older songs are $0.99.

    About the Others:
The Others, whose name refers to a mysterious group of strangers on the Island, turn hour long episodes into songs. In letting the episodes guide them, The Others, are not tied to one musical genre, and try to make each song sound different from the last. The songs have many direct references to the show, but the themes tend to be universal, and listeners not familiar with the show can enjoy them as much as dedicated fans. While watching the show Shannon Purcell, the band's songwriter, takes notes and listens closely for lines that might make a good hook or chorus. He brings the song to the band and over the following days they flesh out an arrangement and record the song. During the season The Others record a song for each episode and posts it to their website and Myspace page before the next one airs. The Others began writing songs about Lost in 2006 and recently release a double CD collection of songs entitled "Seasons 3 & 4". The Others began as a side project of Easthampton, MA based band The Thungs during the second season of Lost. As the story of Lost progressed, so did the Others, and with the help of their local fans and dedicated online followers, has grown from a fun side project to a band with a life of it's own. This progression has earned The Others international attention from the Lost fan community.

The Others are in no way affiliated with ABC, Walt Disney, or Bad Robot Productions.

Billy Smoke Creator discusses Matthew Fox and his new project

Thanks to Flyer for the following.

This is an interview with B Clay Moore, the graphic novelist whose latest project Billy Smoke has been optioned by Warner Bros. with Matthew Fox signed on to play the starring role. He starts talking about Billy Smoke at the 23:00 minute mark and talks about it until around the 38 minute mark. Here are some of the highlights and they are not verbatim.

    - He is wrapping up the script for the graphic novel
    - The graphic artist is wrapping up a promo piece that displays all of the characters in the story
    - Having the book optioned with an actor attached before the book has been finished gives them the chance to hopefully build on some of the buzz surrounding Matthew Fox.
    - Matthew Fox wanted to fly into Comic-Con specifically to sign with him (B Clay Moore) at the Oni booth to promote Billy Smoke. Fox is very enthused about the project.
    - Fox dropped in on the LOST panel and then came and sat down with him at the Oni booth. They had tons of LOST fans that had no clue what they were accepting posters for.
    - Fox turned out to be just a phenomenally nice guy. He’s just a really down-to-earth nice guy, really enthused about the project and really fits it well.
    - Having Fox attached to the project helps the graphic artist wrap his head around who the character might be. Because they think Fox is such a great match for it, fits the vibe they’ve had in mind for the character, it works out really well.
    - Fox’s enthusiasm and the people around him, their enthusiasm for the project, has really put a different kind of pressure on him (Moore) as he wraps it up. Now he’s writing not just for himself and the publisher, but he wants to make sure those guys stay enthusiastic about the product that their movie will based on.
    - Best case scenario is that the movie and the graphic novel release simultaneously.
    - The idea isn’t to translate the book to the big screen, but to create a great movie from the concept. Warner Bros. wasn’t gambling on the fact that the graphic novel Billy Smoke was going to kick ass, they were enamored with the concept.
    - Matthew Fox is a guy who a lot of people think is on the cusp of big things and he wanted a vehicle.
    - Billy Smoke is a textured character, he’s a hit man who is having a crisis of conscience. On top of that it’s a really fun story with a crazy cast of characters that he deals with as he sort of seeks redemption for straying off of the straight and narrow into this world of assassination.

High-definition downloads have finally arrived on the UK version of Apple iTunes store.

Cult hit Lost, currently shown on Sky One in the UK, is available to purchase as HD downloads, weighing in at 2.91GB an episode.

Lost follows the lives of plane crash survivors on a mysterious tropical island, and has proved a popular hit particularly on DVD.

£41.99 gets you a season pass to the current season 5 of Lost, including future episodes, which will be downloaded automatically once signed up.

Individual episodes, so far two are listed, and cost £2.49 each.

Currently you can purchase Lost - The Complete Seasons 1-4 as a traditional DVD box-set for around £100.

Season 5 began in the US last week and was broadcast a few days later in the UK.

According to co-creator Damon Lindelof, season 5 "is about why the people who have left the island need to get back".

A free five-minute ‘Lost Starter Kit’ is also available as a free HD download.

HD downloads have been available on the US iTunes store for some time. HD television take up is more common in the US, with numerous popular shows and live events available in HD.

Thanks to Joshjb for the heads up.

Dead or alive, Claire Littleton will be once more be found on Lost when the series returns for its sixth season - but in the meantime, actress Emilie de Ravin has kept herself busy, costarring with Cybill Shepherd in Lifetime Networks’ adaptation of Nora Roberts’ High Noon premiering March 21, and with Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and a veritable who’s who of Hollywood talent in the upcoming gangster film Public Enemies.

But she’s most excited about playing a 12-year-old. With a beak.

“I am so excited right now - I just booked my first animated job!” de Ravin exclaims. “It’s this movie called The Guardians of Ga’hoole and Zack Snyder is directing it. It’s a movie about this group of Australian owls and it’s just a wonderful story. It’s adapted from the [Kathryn Lasky] books.”

And how does an actress devoted to throwing herself, heart and soul, into embodying her characters prep to become an adolescent owl?

“That was the thing!” de Ravin laughs. “I was auditioning and I was, like, ‘Huh! What kind of voice?!’ So I just sat at home for a day and created some voices and went in and … yep!”

Watch for the premiere of The Guardians of Ga’Hoole in late 2009 or early 2010.

Life Imitates Art: Lost Producers Would Love to Meet Heroic US Airways Pilot

Thanks to Jeffry for the heads up.

Celebrated US Airways pilot Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger not only scored an invite to Tuesday's Presidential Inauguration, he also has an open invitation to visit the set of Lost, the ABC series revolving around the miraculous survivors of a plane crash.

"We would love to meet Sully," Carlton Cuse told TVGuide.com when asked if he and fellow Lost executive producer Damon Lindelof might invite the pilot to visit the show's production base in Hawaii.

Sullenberger has been commended for his ability to safely land Flight 1549 in New York City's Hudson River, and without any casualties among the 155 passengers and crew members on board. That he was able to do so, Cuse notes, is rather ironic given one of the "extras" on the Lost Season 4 DVD set.

"It's funny," says Cuse, "because there's a special feature which has somebody trying to debunk the Oceanic 6's story" about surviving the plunge of Flight 815. "There's this aviation expert basically saying, 'A water landing is impossible. That part of their story doesn't hold up. You could never land a plane on the water.'"

    Eau contraire.

    E!Online Interview with Jorge Garcia

Thanks to b3rt4 for the heads up.

"ABC. The dead-people network. It starts here!"

This is what Jorge Garcia playfully envisions as the ad campaign if his Lost character, Hurley, were to pull an Izzie from Grey's Anatomy and start a new romance with his dead ex-lover Libby (Cynthia Watros).

Thankfully, Jorge is completely joking (and good-heartedly so) and there are no such plans for any ghost boinking on Lost. Still, given that Hurley is the show's only (according to what boss Damon Lindelof told me yesterday) ghost seer, Jorge admits he would love to reconnect with Libby this season.

"I'm crossing my fingers that it will happen," he tells me. "It would be nice for Hurley to have something good."

And how. After all, Hugo "Hurley" Reyes is Lost's most loveable character and resident moral compass, but as we saw in last night's season-five premiere, Hurley just can't catch a break. Why? What's with the ghost visions? Is he really insane? And why did Jorge nail a costar with a rubber Hot Pocket?

    Jorge spills it all...

You fire a mean Hot Pocket, my friend.
Oh, thank you! That was fun to do. Actually, Michael [Emerson] had a line, "Now that's a terrible waste of a Hot Pocket." I don't know why they cut it, but it was funny. What was awesome was that they made a bunch of rubber Hot Pockets for the scene. I actually hit Michael once with it! Then we used a real Hot Pocket to get a nice, good splat.

Damon said that Hurley's the only person who can see the dead. Do you know why?
They haven't told me anything like that. So I guess Christian Shephard doesn't count, because Jack keeps seeing him everywhere? I guess I see everybody else. We should do something then with Miles where Hurley can see the dead people and Miles can hear them, and they can have these weird discussions with the dead. I thought that Hurley being the one seeing the cabin was a pretty cool thing, and kind of reinforced the connection Hurley had to the Island that we wondered about the first time that we saw the lottery numbers appear on the hatch door.

Do you think Hurley is special in a way we don't know about yet?
I do. There were little things, like when Hurley played backgammon with Walt; Walt kicked his butt, 'cause he seemed to be special and could call any dice roll that he required. And then some time later, Hurley seemed to be particularly good at basketball, when he's playing with Jack, and horseshoes when he's playing with Sawyer. Maybe even ping pong. I wonder if Hurley might somehow be becoming more into his own as far as how the Island responds to his energy and how he responds to the Island's energy. I think that could be a possibility if I was reading into things without having new information.

Do you think Hurley is crazy? Do you play him that way?
No. I definitely buy everything that Hurley says and believes. I take what he says as the truth. If he's crazy in the end, that's their thing. But a crazy person doesn't think they're crazy. I definitely don't play him as crazy.

Hurley seems more terrified than anyone else of Ben. Why?
Well, he killed all those people, and Hurley knows that. I think he also heeds Sayid's warning. Beyond that, I think it was probably just so hard getting off the Island he doesn't want to go back. I still don't quite know yet what is the moment that causes him to decide to go back. That still hasn't been revealed to me.

We have to talk about that monologue where Hurley explains the entire history of Lost to his mother. You did a great job delivering that, so kudos. Was it tough to film?
Thank you. It was tricky the night before, trying to memorize it, for sure. Because Hurley's mind is kind of choppy and it doesn't have necessarily an exact flow to it. He keeps interrupting himself and pausing and stops when he says things. When I read that in the script, I was like, "Holy crap. I have to download all four seasons into one speech!" But I got kudos from the writers 'cause they were like, "How is he even going to do this without boring people or having to cut away to see clips to keep it interesting?" And they said I did good.

Elizabeth Mitchell - Metrosource Magazine Interview

Thanks to Flyer for the heads up

For us, Elizabeth Mitchell will always be the girl who made out with a young Angelina Jolie in Gia, but as Juliet on ABC’s Lost, Ms. Mitchell tends to run around the island looking fierce. So we were shocked to find her to be laid-back and giggly — way more bubbly than bad-ass.

Did you feel any pressure coming on board a pop-culture phenomenon like Lost?
I think I probably just refused to feel it too much. I just had a baby like six months before, and I was too sleep-deprived to care.

That kinda works for the character.

Yeah, fairly insane. But I think I was just like, “Well, I’ll do this, then. That sounds great,” not realizing how huge [the show] was.

    Tell us about Juliet.

Well, I think she’s very smart, very loyal. She’s trying to figure something out: how to get home, for the most part. But she can’t find any way to click her heels together.

We think she’s one of the more fascinating characters on the show.
A lot of it, of course, is the writing, but I think that I get so excited because there’s actually something real to play.

You don’t often find such complicated characters on network television.
You really don’t, and I didn’t think she was going to be that. I mean, Juliet didn’t start out that way, so I got more and more interested as I was getting scripts. I was like, “Really? They want me to do this?” It was really unexpected and very cool.

Juliet has this scary-slash-intense thing going on.
She does have a kind of intense way of watching people, which is one of the more interesting things about her to play. I think that kind of stillness isn’t something people easily do. We constantly try to fill spaces and kind of make everything okay.

How much of her backstory did you know when you started playing her?
They kind of fed it to me bit by bit, but I remember that I had a lot of it figured out. You just had to learn to get that instinctive feel for her, and slowly you saw who this person was. And of course, [the show’s writers] sit you down at first and they talk to you, and they ask you all sorts of things about yourself. They take a lot of what they’re doing — because they have this whole huge blueprint — and they put you in there. They talk about things that affect you, like, “You have a sister,” and so on. And I think that’s one of the brilliant things that they do, is they watch the people who work for them carefully, and they play to their strengths.

Do you ever get any crazed overreactions from fans?
You know, at first maybe a little bit more so because Juliet was such an antagonist. At least now she seems to be more accessible. I was on the playground with my son, and I was wearing an old-lady dress and huge hat, and this woman looks at me and gasps,“You’re Juliet!” And I’m like, “Yeah.” And she says, “Oh, my God, I thought you’d be in head-to-toe leather and riding a motorcycle.” And I was all, “No, I’m sorry. This must be horribly disappointing. I apologize.”

Yeah, but so much of the time onscreen, you guys all look sweaty and filthy.
Oh, yeah — we spend a great deal of time looking awful.

Well, that must cut down on being recognized. We’re assuming you don’t run around looking filthy all the time.
I do! Well, not filthy, but I usually look tired, and I have no makeup on. It’s when I’m really dressed up that no one recognizes me. I was walking through the airport one time when I had a press thing, and I had on what I love to wear: huge high heels and a great dress. I didn’t get stopped once.

Who’s a better kisser: Matthew Fox or Angelina Jolie?
Well, that’s not really a fair question. I mean, I barely got to kiss Matthew. There was a lot of psychological stuff behind it, but as far as just letting loose and getting to kiss, it never happened. I don’t know that I can answer that fairly, but I will say that Angelina was lovely to kiss.

    So the answer is Angelina?
But Matthew was lovely, too. I mean how can you not [think so], with Matthew? You can sort of drown in all that softness with him, but then he still has that masculine, firm thing going on.

To understand most shows, all you need is time, a television and the ability to understand English.

For "Lost," we needed two physics professors.

Luckily for The Post, Dr. Michio Kaku of City University here in New York, and Richard Muller of the University of California at Berkeley, are not only experts in their field, they're big fans of ABC's sci-fi series, which returns in a two-hour premiere this Wednesday.

The surprising thing they discovered: One of the show's biggest secrets - what is the mysterious island our castaways landed on? - already has been revealed. Ready? The island is a ship, essentially, one that travels through space and time using a wormhole. Trippy.

For those who need some catching up: "Lost" began with the crash of Oceanic Flight 815, which deposited a number of survivors on a puzzling South Pacific island. The island could heal - one of the castaways, John Locke, no longer needed his wheelchair; another was cured of cancer - and wasn't visible by radar to the outside world. It was inhabited by "Others," natives who seemed not to age, and the remnants of some kind of research project called the Dharma Initiative.

In last season's finale, Locke found a tape made by a Dharma scientist, which for Kaku and Muller was a big clue to the island's nature. On the recording, the scientist says that the island has a natural "Casimir Effect," which created a pocket of "exotic matter" with which Dharma was going to conduct experiments.

    Exotic matter!?

"Exotic matter falls up rather than down," says Kaku, author of "Physics of the Impossible. "It has anti-gravitational properties. It's the basic gasoline for time travel."

Does exotic matter exist? Maybe, Kaku says. At this point, it's just theoretical. However, in 1948, a Dutch physicist named Hendrik Casimir predicted the existence of something similar to it, negative matter. Most people laughed him off, Kaku says, until, a decade later, they were actually able to create a very minute amount of negative energy in a lab.

"Using new tools like the Large Hadron Collider, you can't rule anything out," Kaku says. "There are many things that were thought to be impossible that were discovered."

OK, so you created exotic matter using a Casimir Effect. What is it good for? Energy. Scientists laughed at "Back to the Future," because Doc Brown was only using plutonium. "Plutonium isn't powerful enough [to bend space-time]," Kaku says. "You need power of cosmic proportions."

Even using exotic matter, you'd require a power source the size of a star, Kaku says. "We have running debates," he says. "Not whether you could build such a machine, but if such a machine would kill you."

"Lost" has taken liberties with actual theories, since the exotic matter is much smaller than a star, yet nonetheless can bend time and space - and hasn't swallowed up the Earth.

It also can be manipulated. At the end of last season, to prevent the island from falling into unscrupulous hands, Other leader Benjamin Linus "moved" the island. What he really did, Muller says, is shift the island's connection to the world.

"The island is not actually located on the Earth," says Muller, who cites "Lost" in his physics classes and is the author of "Physics for Future Presidents." "It exists within a rip in the space-time continuum."

The island is connected to the South Pacific by a "wormhole-like warp in space-time," and by manipulating that warp, it shifts. Dharma was conducting experiments on the energy with animals; that's why there are polar bears and time-traveling rabbits on the island.

Once you realize the physics of "Lost," a lot of the plot twists fall into place. You can only approach wormholes from one trajectory, otherwise the distortions of space and time become too great. Same with the island. The island isn't visible to radar because it doesn't actually exist here. The button in one of the Dharma stations, the one the castaways had to push every 108 minutes, held in a rupture in the exotic matter. When it wasn't pushed, the station imploded (sucked in by the negative energy) and briefly made the island visible. By turning the key, Desmond sealed that breach but may have moved the island in the process (remember how the sky went white?).

Of course, questions remain, the main one being the origin of the island. Perhaps an ancient alien civilization (creatures with four toes, like the statue the castaways found) actually created the exotic matter, and used the island as a vessel to move through space and time. Could the Others be their descendants? With only two seasons left, we should find out soon.

Muller knows how he doesn't want the show to end. "I worry they'll time travel back to before the plane crashed. They'll remember everything, like 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,' but nothing will change in reality," he says.

Instead, the physics professor would like to see a hero emerge - natch, it's a physics professor.

"I suspect Ben really is a physicist," Muller says. "He understands better than anyone what the island is, that's why he's terrified and will do anything to protect it. He'll save the world."

Here is a little interesting tidbit I just came across that I did not expect to see. Former Hobbit and LOST Star Dominic Monaghan recently spoke with MTV at the Sundance Film Festival. Monaghan was asked about potentially showing up in the upcoming Hobbit movies and he confirmed that he has spoken with Peter Jackson about potentially returning along with his fellow hobbits!

As far as I know this is our first confirmation of Monaghan or any other of the hobbits possibly appearing in the new movies.

Thanks to thedemonhog for the following.

The per-episode budget of 'Lost' is $4 million (USD) ('Entertainment Weekly' has previously reported that the average hour-long drama costs $3 million). Alan Frutkin of Mediaweek interviewed Stephen McPherson a few days ago and among other things, he discussed the fandom of 'Lost', the difficulty in launching a show as a lead-out of 'Lost' and the future of broadcasting for network television, in which he mentioned "...four million dollar episodes of 'Lost'...".

Lilly knows how to get best out of little actor

Thanks to Hoku for the heads up.

Some of the best onscreen chemistry on "Lost" involves one of its youngest actors and its leading lady.

William Blanchette, a 31/2-year-old boy cast as Aaron, spends a lot of time opposite Evangeline Lilly, the dark-haired actress who plays Kate. Whenever the Kahala boy sees "Evie," it's all hugs and kisses.

Lilly knows how to direct William better than anyone, said the boy's mother, Natasha Blanchette. Her son used to work for pickles, but now he works for Lilly's "airplane" rides.

"When the director yells 'cut,' the crew are quick to take a couple of steps back as Evie sweeps William off his feet and proceeds to twirl and whirl around the set with him held over her head," Blanchette said. "She is unpredictable and Wil- liam thinks that is hilarious. She is just so sweet."

William has played baby Aaron for several seasons, growing from infant to toddler on both "Lost" and in real life. That's him in one of the online "sneak preview" trailers for this season, wide-eyed as FBI agents come to the front door of the home where he and Lilly's character, Kate, are living.

Even though Lilly does not have children, she has an easy way with William, said Blan- chette, who also has two older girls.

"You can't fake it with kids," Blanchette said. "She is just instantly in tune with whatever he is up to. I will go through a scene with him at home, but when we get there, she is the one who evokes the performance from him.

"The director will look at Evie and say, 'Can you get him to do this?' and she gets on her hands and knees and says, 'Come on, William.' "

NY Times article on Gregg Nations

WHAT ever happened to the four-toed statue? Why do some inhabitants of the island never seem to age? What is the Smoke Monster? And, as one of the time-traveling survivors of the crash of Oceanic Airlines Flight 815 asks in the premiere of the new season of “Lost,” Wednesday on ABC, “When are we now?”

With 34 episodes to go in its two final seasons, the stories of nearly 100 characters to wrap up, several Dharma stations to keep track of and a whole lot of time traveling going on, the writers of “Lost” are doing anything but winding down. Yet their task — untangling the seemingly impenetrable mass of plotlines that have become addictive to some viewers of the show and alienating to others — is relatively simple compared with that of Gregg Nations.

A co-producer and the show’s longtime script coordinator, Mr. Nations has become the keeper of what has been found on “Lost,” charged with tracking everything that has happened and will happen to the characters on and off the island, in addition to charting the many mysterious characteristics of the island itself.

While most television series maintain a so-called bible — a guide to characters and plotlines that are developed by the creators but revealed over multiple seasons — few if any shows have twists and turns as byzantine as those on “Lost.”

And unlike many jobs, which get easier as the material becomes more familiar, this one has become exponentially more complicated and challenging with each new episode. That will be particularly true this season, when the island itself starts moving through time as the people who seem to be the guardians of its secrets try to protect it from a shadowy conspirator who could have darker uses for its powers.

Before the show’s premiere in September 2004, the producers were unsure that “Lost” would last beyond a few episodes. They therefore spent little time keeping track of the interlocking, overlapping and often confounding story lines that began to emerge even in the first episode.

But when the series proved to be an out-of-the-gate hit, “we quickly realized we needed some system to keep track of all the details, that we weren’t going to be able to do that by memory,” said Carlton Cuse, one of the show’s executive producers.

Enter Mr. Nations, who has now compiled an archive that, were he ever to print it out, might — as he put it in an interview at the “Lost” production offices on Disney’s Burbank studio lot — give “War and Peace” a run for its money.

Just how long the entire document is he does not know; he has never printed it out in full, in part because he and his secretive bosses do not want copies falling into the wrong hands. But he has multiple electronic copies, which he keeps in undisclosed locations.

In addition to charting story arcs and tracking characters, Mr. Nations has noted each character’s sojourns on and off the island, mapped the research stations established by the mysterious Dharma Initiative and recorded the appearances and disappearances of polar bears, Smoke Monsters and an unhealthy array of guns.

“It didn’t take us very long to learn to rely on Gregg when we had to check out an issue of continuity,” Mr. Cuse said. “He had timelines, charts, dossiers. He took it into a dimension that exceeded anything that we could imagine.”

Keeping those details straight is likely to be increasingly important as the series speeds toward its climax, jumping both off and back onto the island and among the past, present and future. If Mr. Eko shows up alive or Jack’s chest hair reappears at an inappropriate time, for example, viewers will notice.

Many have abandoned the show already. After it drew an average of 16 million viewers per episode in its first season, its audience has steadily decreased, to an estimated 13.5 million per episode last season, according to Nielsen Media Research. Some of that decline undoubtedly reflects a drop in overall network television viewership, but it can also be traced to a feeling among onetime fans that the series has left them behind without a good re-entry point.

ABC points out that even while losing viewers the series has held steady in the program rankings, and that its remaining viewers are among the most loyal. The audience as measured by Nielsen increases by about 20 percent when viewers who tape the show and watch it later are included. (That might not make sponsors happy, however, since those viewers tend to skip commercials.)

And many fans are rabid. Pirated copies of call sheets from the set or breakdowns of a day’s shooting often appear on Web sites devoted to the show, where viewers dissect plot summaries as fervently as Kremlinologists would pore over photos of May Day parades.

Late last year a promotional video featured Mr. Cuse and Damon Lindelof, a creator and executive producer of the series, giving a tour of the writers’ offices. It did not take long before stills from the video were blown up and posted online to show the walls of the writers’ workroom, where pictures of the cast were divided between sections titled “alive,” “undead” and “R.I.P.” Visitors to one such site commented that the character Jin appeared to be on the “alive” wall, even though he was aboard the freighter that blew up in last season’s finale.

Mr. Nations acknowledges that he sometimes monitors those sites. “The fans present their theories, and it’s fun to read, but I usually don’t comment on that,” he said. “When I do I’m sort of known for giving very vague answers. It drives them crazy.”

Born in Texas and raised in Missouri, Mr. Nations, 41, graduated with an accounting degree from Southwest Missouri State University before attending film school at the University of Southern California. Like many who follow that path, he found that a master’s degree qualified him in Hollywood to work as a low-paid writers’ assistant on short-lived series on minor broadcast networks — specifically “Pig Sty” on the UPN network and “Sister, Sister” on WB.

Those experiences, however, put him in position to fill an opening for a script coordinator on “Nash Bridges,” where Mr. Cuse was a writer and executive producer. A few years later, when Mr. Cuse was looking for someone to fill a similar position on “Lost,” he remembered Mr. Nations.

Had he a background in computer science, Mr. Nations now says, he might have approached the “Lost” project differently. “The best thing would have been to create a database where everything’s linked, and if we’re talking about Jack and what was established in his first flashback episode, you could click on something that takes you there,” he said. But as an accountant, he was more inclined just to make notes in a ledger. “I’ve just created these Word documents, and I just write everything down.”

For the most part Mr. Nations does not dwell on what is to come, and in that respect he is sometimes as much in the dark as any other fan.

While he participates in the mini-camps each year when the writers sketch out the story lines for the coming season, Mr. Nations does not regularly sit with the writers. He is often the first reader of a completed script, however, so that he can advise the show’s production staff, based in Hawaii, on what it will need to shoot the next episode.

(Mr. Nations has had his own small hand in determining some outcomes of the series; he wrote, with Elizabeth Sarnoff, the fourth episode of Season 4, “Eggtown,” in which viewers learned that Kate, one of the crash survivors, is raising Aaron, the baby born to Claire on the island.)

But being sometimes privy to writing sessions has created a few complications in terms of maintaining the bible. “Sometimes I remember things from the writers’ room that went through the script stage, that went through various rewrites that they shot, that made it to the editing room but didn’t make it to the final cut,” Mr. Nations explained. “That becomes an issue. Do we consider that canon? Is that part of the mythology? Is that part of the makeup of that character — or because it didn’t air, do we take that away now?”

The answer, he said, depends. “Sometimes Damon will say: ‘Oh yeah, that’s part of what is going on. Even though we didn’t say it in the script, we all know it and that’s going to be dealt with sometime down the road.’ So I have to be aware of those things too.”

No one is infallible, of course, and fans of “Lost” have created extended lists online of continuity errors and bloopers. Mr. Nations admits that without his database he would have trouble remembering everything about the series.

That was evident when a reporter asked him a question that had been suggested by a colleague: What became of the body of Naomi, who in Season 4 was one of the rescuers from the freighter sent to search for the island? She died after Locke threw a knife into her back.

“She died in the jungle,” Mr. Nations said. “So she must still be on the island.”

But wait — didn’t Sayid insist on taking Naomi’s body back to the ship?

“You know, you’re right,” Mr. Nations said. “She was on the ship and the ship exploded. I guess she’s fish food. You found something that I wasn’t tracking. Now I guess I had better.”

**UPDATED** Thanks to Buddies for the heads up about seeing a Locke and Hurley billboard as well. If you are able to grab a picture please send it in via submitting above or email me at: mrtheodi@gmail.com

    Hey All,
A very cool LOST Season 5 Billboard has been found in Glasgow, Scotland.

The billboard features Bad-Ass Sayid with a nice little tag line and advertises Season 5 for Sky One.

Now if you are a fan of spoilers, then you will know there is an inside joke ongoing about Ben's Annie. Many fans have theorized she would return and well any casting call we get or spoiler many fans would say it is related to Annie. Well some have become so agitated with it happening that almost ANY spoiler posted is attempted to be connected to her just for fun.

Well look at the sign under the billboard..."Anniesland"

I would say that is FATE... ;)

Thanks to our friends at SL-LOST for the heads up.

NOTE: If you find any other billboards please send us picture of it and we will post it.

    Lost star finds her geeks

Thanks to Fran for the heads up.

It didn’t take Rebecca Mader long to realize fans of Lost are ... uh ... what’s the word we’re looking for here?

    Devoted? Passionate? Crazy?

“I love my geeks!” said an enthusiastic Mader, who plays Charlotte Lewis on Lost. “Geeks are the best fans!”

The fifth season of the mysterious drama – or the second-last season, depending on how you look at it – begins Wednesday, Jan. 21, on A and ABC. Mader joined the cast of Lost early in season No. 4.

“It’s funny, before I joined Lost, I always wanted to find the geeks, you know?” said Mader, a native of England. “I love Battlestar Galactica, and I wanted to find my geeks, my boys. I love stuff like that, and I’m a bit of a geek, too.”

One thing about geeks: They know what they like.

“When I got this show, I was like, ‘Wicked,’ because they’re the most loyal fans ever,” Mader said. “They’re intelligent, they’re smart, they know good TV when they find it and they’ll stick with it.”

Of course, sometimes geeks can be a little, uh, forward.

Mader may treasure her geeks, but she was asked if she ever has experienced any “be careful what you wish for” moments.

“I definitely get some marriage proposals on Facebook every now and again,” Mader said. “Sometimes I almost want to say, ‘Aiiiggghhttt! Let’s do this, right now, you and me, let’s go!’

“Then they’d be like, ‘Argghhhh!’, and run the other way. That would be funny, I’m going to try that one next.

“But I love the fans. And I love being on a show with clever, wicked people like so much. I think that’s really juicy.”

The story on Lost always has been juicy, to the point of being too juicy at times. But Lost never has failed to be intriguing, which is quite an accomplishment in the current TV landscape.

Mader regularly gets peppered with questions about what really is happening on the island, and where Charlotte fits into the equation.

“I know absolutely sod-all, nothing,” Mader said with a laugh. “People want to know who Charlotte is, and I don’t know.

“No one ever has coached me (to keep quiet about plot developments), which is quite shocking, because I have a really big mouth. But people always think I’m being secretive. And I’m like, ‘I’m not!’ ”

Some actors would find it tough to be left in the dark, in terms of both their own characters and the larger story-line.

“I thought it would be difficult, but it’s really fun,” Mader said. “I know it sounds cheesy, but it’s kind of liberating not knowing. You get to wing it and make it up as you go along, and I think it makes for a real, organic performance.

“Rather than knowing everything and having it all mapped out, you just go with the flow, like you do in real life.”

So Lost is like real life?

Note to self: Avoid all islands.

    Hey All,
LOST has become a pop-culture phenomenon and from time to time we get an email from a reader who has seen a reference to LOST in a TV show, movie or video game.

Well today we received an email from our good friend Debbie who happened to be playing the video game Mystery Case Files: Ravenhearst with her kids and boom, she noticed a Dharma Logo! No specific logo is used, but there is a "S" like symbol that I believe is to reference the Swan Logo.

If you have played this game and seen any other references or references to LOST any where else, then please let us know.

Here Debbie's email along with a screencap she took:

This may be old news, but the kids and I were playing the PC game Mystery Case Files: Ravenhearst the other day and when we came to the "Surveilance Room" on the game, I spotted a Dharma logo in the top left corner. I sent a screen shot for you, in case you haven't seen it before.

Thanks to kinky_willow for the heads up.

Lost creators Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof have given the show's star Matthew Fox the greatest references as he gets set to wrap up the desert island drama - they're convinced he'll be an Oscar nominee within four years.

Both feel sure the Vantage Point star will turn his back on TV and concentrate on making challenging movies.

Cuse says, "He has that cocktail of dangerous and charming. He has a leading man's good looks, and heroic qualities as an actor."

And Lindelof tells Details magazine, "He has the potential to be a leading man, but I think he's interested in those quirky transformative roles.

"Three, four years from now I can see him getting a Supporting Actor nomination... He wants acting to be hard, to be torture. He does not want to ski the bunny slope."

Lost’s Josh Holloway in Playboy magazine

Lost’s Josh Holloway is Playboy magazine’s February 20Q (available on newsstands and online at www.playboydigital.com (NSFW) on Friday, January 16).

The Bad Boy of Primetime Shares His Thoughts on the Show’s Upcoming Season, Surviving a Home Invasion and Getting Caught Speeding in Hawaii --

“Having a gun held to our heads when we’re naked in our bedroom at four in the morning is never going to happen to my wife and me again,” explains Josh Holloway on surviving a life-changing home invasion in the February issue of Playboy (available on newsstands and online at www.playboydigital.com on Friday, January 16). “I took the FBI training course. I have home protection. I accept that we live in a gun society, especially in America. Of course there’s also the statistic that owning a gun increases your chances of being shot by 300 percent.”

Though Holloway portrays hot-tempered con man James “Sawyer” Ford on the hit show Lost, now heading into its fifth season (premiering on Wednesday, January 21), the rugged heartthrob is anything but tightlipped in Playboy’s February 20Q. The following are selected quotes:

On being a victim of a home invasion robbery: “It still gets me. The guy was a crackhead who had hit 22 people in two and a half weeks. He took an 80-year-old couple and duct-taped them up. He also attempted to murder another guy. I had a nightmare about it last night.”

On Lost’s upcoming fifth season: “I don’t know sh#t. In last season’s finale some characters are trying to get back to the island. I have a feeling—this is just my projection—we’re going to get deeper into the lore of the island and where people on the island will end up. I love that Sawyer is still on the island and not back in society, where he’s such a bastard. He has evolved a bit, but I don’t know how he fits into society anymore.”

On his rise to stardom: “My first job, at the age of 11, was picking up dead chickens in a chicken house. After that I worked in a restaurant. At the age of 13 I went into construction, which is what most rural people do—either that or become a mechanic or chicken farmer. When I was 17 I got a haircut in Atlanta, and the lady said, “Do you want to do a hair show? I’ll give you a free haircut.” I said no, but when she said, “It’s you and 12 girls,” I said, “I’m in.” The guy who organized the show worked at a modeling agency, and I started doing ads for Macy’s. Then I got an offer to model in New York, so at 18 I took a Greyhound bus and off I went.”

On his sexy co-star Evangeline Lily: “Evie’s most attractive quality is her willingness to just throw herself into sh#t. She’s a pretty girl who’s unafraid to take a big handful of dirt, shove it in her hair and wipe it across her face. She’s always saying, ‘We’re not dirty enough.’”

On filming in Oahu in Hawaii: “It’s an island, very easily patrolled, and we are the only big celebrities who stay there all the time. I was going around 50 in a 35 zone, and that’s embarrassing. I should have been going faster.”

*Read Josh Holloway’s 21st question starting Friday, January 16 at playboy.com/21q.

    Elizabeth Mitchell Interview with Parents.com

Elizabeth Mitchell, costar of ABC's hit series Lost, is warm and open and laughs easily. Mitchell, it is instantly clear, could be your best friend: She's a working mom who juggles her family responsibilities with a high-octane career, all the while wishing for a few more hours of sleep and a little more time at home in Seattle, where she lives with her actor husband, Chris, and son, CJ, 3.

    Tiny Inspiration
Having a baby has absolutely increased what I am capable of doing creatively. When you have a baby, you are so tired, but your heart grows. His whole world becomes magic. As a parent, you realize you are a maker of that magic. That's one of your jobs besides all of the practical stuff: whether or not your child loves all these things, like singing and music, has a lot to do with the way you present them.

    No Sleep, No Problem
I cannot be someone who is not there at all hours. If CJ wakes up in the middle of the night, then I am going to be there, and we are going to figure out how to go back to sleep. For the first year, he just did not sleep, and now he sleeps like a rock. I think this is because I put so much time in with him back then. You stop worrying about dumb things, and you really just start doing the things that are most essential.

    Rise and Shine
Kids need someone fresh -- a babysitter, grandparents, whoever -- to come in with fun ideas, and then your child's life is richer for it. This is why Chris and I alternate mornings in charge. On my mornings, we get up and I have CJ draw a picture. He has his own little table and pad. And we always listen to music. Sometimes it's classical, sometimes it's jazz, sometimes it's rock -- it just depends on what mood we're in. I like to tell him who the composer is, and then he walks around saying the name because he feels he knows something. He's like, "This is Bach." It's pretty neat.

LOST Likely Winner in Wed Night Ratings Battle

The Hollywood Reporter has a very extensive detail of the upcoming ratings "battles" for the second half of the TV Season.

With LOST moving back to Wednesday nights at 9 PM they will be facing old foe Criminal Minds on CBS and new show with Tim Roth Lie to Me on FOX.

While other shows have lost ratings this season, all the CBS crime shows seem to be holding up well and Lie to Me has gotten some good reviews.

However, the anticipation for Season 5 of LOST seems to be at a all time high more so than ever before.

THR is predicting that LOST will be the likely winner in the target demographic and here is their analysis:

Battleground: Wednesdays at 9 p.m.: ABC's "Lost" vs. Fox's "Lie to Me" vs. CBS' "Criminal Minds"

    Analysis:
This is a three-way Mexican standoff. Fox's keystone new show against CBS' usual time-period winner -- both crime procedurals -- and then there's ABC's strongly rated "Lost" returning after airing on Thursdays during the writers strike last year. "Lie" has the "Idol" lead-in and boasts a fairly solid pilot, plus the dramas that best maintained an "Idol" lead-in have been the somewhat similar "Bones" and "House." ABC hasn't yet scheduled a lead-in for "Lost," but the show is considered a self-starter.

Likely winner: As a serialized show, "Lost" will drop at least 10%, yet will probably win in the demo. "Lie" could surprise thanks to "Idol." Either way, "Minds" remains a good bet to dominate total viewers. Also, Fox holds a trump card here: The network could swap "Lie" and 8 p.m.'s "American Idol" at any time to protect their new show.

LOST was named the Most Anticipated Show of 2009 by Entertainment Weekly.

    Here is the little synopsis.

    1. Lost (Jan. 21): Lost returns in less than three weeks, and the world will be a better place for it. Season five means it's time to go back to the Island, but there's more than a little gridlock on the road back: The nature of time and space itself is an obstacle (the Island is missing!), not to mention Charles Widmore's diabolical schemes and the internal strife between the Oceanic Six members. The good news is that for the first hour of the premiere, Sawyer is shirtless.
