    Hey All,
Last week E! Online had a chance to speak with both Michael Emerson and LOST writer Carlton Cuse about Season 6 and some plans for Comic Con.

Well once again nothing spoilery was revealed at all, but Emerson was asked about his thoughts about Ben's crush on Juliet considering she might have blown herself up. Emerson speculated that he thinks that Ben has no room for romance in his life at the moment. He also confirmed working with Elizabeth Mitchell is awesome.

Cuse was solid as a rock not leaking anything about Season 6, but when asked if he could have Josh Holloway (Sawyer) appear at Comic Con, he did say it was a good idea and that he would love to have him be there.

So are you going to Comic Con this year?? If so, we will be there as well so please contact us and we can provide you with details on meeting up!! (Email: mrtheodi@gmail.com)

Don't forget to check out @ComicConLive on Twitter for live updates from ComicCon via Twitter. There will be a Live Comic Con page here and on DarkUFO as well.

So Josh fan are you excited at the possibility of him appearing at CC this year!?!?

Michael Emerson Speculates on Season 6

Michael Emerson, who plays Ben Linus, confirmed that at least he is still an active part of the show. "My understanding is that I am," Emerson said in an exclusive interview last week at the Saturn Awards in Burbank, Calif. "For how much of season six, that's a good question."

Yes, more cryptic answers from the actor who plays the most cryptic character on the show. He even kiboshed my theory about erasing the present timeline. If the bomb prevented the crash of Oceanic Flight 815, seeing everybody live happily ever after wouldn't earn high ratings for the finale.

"I could see why you might think that, but from my perspective as playing that character who arrived late on that show, it doesn't sound terribly dramatic unless there's something in that equation that I don't quite get," Emerson said. "I'm just curious about what dramatic paths we'll follow."

One dramatic path might be further explorations of the mysterious Jacob. The fifth season finale revealed Jacob as a corporal presence, but still not quite human. Ben stabbed him, intending to kill Jacob. "I'm still not sure that he's a person like you and [me]," Emerson said. "I'm still not sure he's a person like Ben. Is he killable? I don't know. We haven't been to his funeral yet so I don't know. I don't know where all that's going."

Season six might finally give us a Ben flashback. We've seen Ben in flash-forwards, sending Sayid on assassination missions and trying to shoot Desmond. We've met Young Ben in the past, but we have yet to see Ben flash back to reflect on his own adult life.

"What constitutes a proper Ben flashback?" Emerson said. "There are some gaps in Ben's bio, and I think we may look backward a couple of times this season. I'm just guessing."

Don't expect any big changes for Ben, though. While audiences have seen him go from Henry Gale to the evil leader of the Others to a sympathetic young boy, Emerson has always acted as Ben and will continue to do so. "Ben has always seemed straightforward to me, and I don't think Ben has changed much over time," he said. "I think audience perceptions of Ben has changed."

Thanks again to J David for the heads up and to Donna for the translation.

TVMania: Does it get difficult after a while to play the same character for so long? Do you ever get bored with Jack and Lost?

MF: No. Lost has been a very special experience for me. Jack is a character who's continuously changing and goes through a lot of challenges he has to face so it's never felt like I'm stuck in a rut. I don't get bored: I think the fact that the show has this narrative structure helps, it feels like it's headed somewhere, it's not like playing a doctor in a medical show where pretty much the same things happen every week.

TVMania: Would you and Jack be friends if he were a real person?

MF: I think so. The circumstances he finds himself in and his experiences... they influence Jack's nature a lot. He's not necessarily a good guy. Damon Lindelof and I have wanted from the beginning to make him a hero and then destroy him. So he becomes an alcoholic and drug addict, he's suicidal and ultimately he tries to find a way to recover. We've tried to give him built-in flaws because Jack is essentially a flawed guy. He's also very intense, he takes responsibility for protecting those around him, he's relentless. I think in a normal day to day existence, Jack would be a pretty cool guy. It's my job to defend him. I like him so I defend him.

TVMania: Are you afraid of being typecast as the Jack persona in the future? Do you worry it might limit your options?

MF: No. I've actually played very different characters in the last few years, I've found my way. I'm actually very happy that within Lost, Jack goes through a lot of changes so I get to do a lot of different things with the character. I'm not worried at all.

TVMania: Rumor has it that you're the only cast members who knows how the show is going to end. Is that true?

MF: I do know how the show is going to end because I've been talking about Jack and the story with Damon and I know the overall picture: it's going to be beautiful, sad and redemptive. Jack will find his peace. I've put five years of my life into the show so I can't wait. I don't know who else knows the final images of the show because I haven't discussed them with anybody else.

TVMania: How do you picture life without Lost?

MF: I can't wait for it! The show's been an amazing experience, I intend to enjoy every single episode left and I can't wait to see it all come together. But at the same time, I'm looking forward to a life without Lost.

TVMania: Do you have any solid plans for the future?

MF: Actors don't really do those much, but I'm looking forward to finding some good offers and working with the right kind of directors.

    TVMania: No more television?

MF: No. I've already spent 12 years in television and while it's been great, it's also been time consuming. I'm looking forward to spending three months immersed in a project and then having time to spend with my family. I want to have more control over my time and the projects I do, it's very important for me.

TVMania: People usually associate beaches with vacations and relaxation. You've been living in HI for five years with your family. When you look at a beach, do you automatically think of work?

MF: Yeah, pretty much. I'm looking forward to moving back to the mountains and four seasonal climate.

TVMania: When's your last day of Lost?

MF: At some point in April 2010 when we're shooting the two hour show finale.

SM: Aside from Jack, who is your favorite Lost character?

MF: Hurley. I think Jorge Garcia does a fabulous job with the character and we always have so much fun when we shoot scenes together. I love his character and I'd love to be able to play a purely comedic character one day. I only get drama offers, rarely any comedies, unfortunately Jack doesn't really have funny scenes in Lost.

SM: Do you think Jack will find peace one day and quiet down his inner demons?

MF: Jack is a truly tortured soul and he's back on the Island because he feels the need to redeem himself. Jack's a broken man, but I think he'll find redemption from now on and by the end of the show.

SM: Do you think Jack and Kate could get back together and have a future together?
MF: No, I never found the couple to be credible. I find it hard to believe they'll go back to falling into each other's arms.

SM: How would you describe Jack's state of mind in season 5?

MF: Jack doesn't want to control everything anymore and to think that he can influence his own destiny. He's gone from being a man of science to being a man of faith. Thanks to Locke, Jack is now convinced that he's got a mission to accomplish on the Island.

SM: Is Jack going to be pitted against Ben in the last season of Lost?

MF: No, he's going to have a much stronger enemy to deal with. But I can't go into details because the producers are going to probably send their men in black here to kidnap me and silence me. [laughs] But I can make it up to you with one scoop: throughout the last season, the flashbacks will stop and the story will be told in a linear manner without any more time jumping.

SM: Since you know how the show is going to end, can you tell us if fans will be happy with the ending?

MF: I think so. This last season looks like it's going to be fantastic and the ending is going to live up to the public's expectations. But I'm aware that there's different expectations among the fans so it's going to be impossible to please everyone. But on the other hand, the ending is going to be very tight, it's going to keep you glued to the screen. All the puzzle pieces are going to come together. I know people have at times doubted the writers' ability to answer all the question they've raised over the years.. But trust me, they're going to do it. This last season is going to prove that they've known where they were going from the very beginning. The end is going to be both sad, beautiful and liberating.

Giacchino: Different Music Style For Characters Still Evolving (Star Trek)
    View Comments
    Labels: ,
    Bookmark and Share

Given the nature of the movie, the music for Star Trek XI needed to be different than the typical "space music" score.

As reported by Titan Magazines, Star Trek XI composer Michael Giacchino thought at first to approach the music for Star Trek XI as was usually done with space movies, but realized that it wouldn't be the right thing for this particular movie. "Quite honestly, that was the first direction we went in, and I had written several themes that were in that space opera kind of vein, somewhere between what Jerry Goldsmith and John Williams did, in that language of what we've all come to know as 'space music,' explained Giacchino. "On every one of them, it felt right for a big space movie, but it didn't feel like our movie. Again it goes back to the idea that we were trying to do something that wasn't exactly what you had seen or heard before. We wanted to do something that was a little different. Space movies don't have to have this sound."
This was due to the movie being about characters, specifically raw, unfinished characters. "J.J. always wanted to make it about the character," said Giacchino. "He'd say that the theme for this movie can't be polished, it can't be soaring, it has to have an almost unfinished feel in the way that Kirk is almost an unfinished character."

"He's not a finished person," said Giacchino. "He's getting there but he's not there. He's a little rough around the edges. J.J. wanted something that was somewhat sad, somewhat brooding. That is clearly not what Star Trek has been in the past, or Star Wars, or anything that would normally go in that direction."

According to Giacchino, that was the right decision to have made. "I think he was absolutely right to say what he said and it really took the music in a different direction," said Giacchino. "We are dealing with the start of the relationships with these characters that we know so well. It's a tough beginning for them, not an easy one. Any time we did try to be too heroic or too traditional, it felt wrong, and not true to what was going on emotionally in the story."

"Musically, had we gone in a direction that it had gone before, it might have felt hollow," Giacchino added. "It wouldn't have felt like we were taking it anywhere different. I feel like it really needed to be treated differently than it has been the last ten years.

    Jacob goes Supernatural

Mark Pellegrino's career is on fire. Literally.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that the actor -- who was unmasked as Lost's enigmatic Jacob at the end of last season -- is joining the cast of Supernatural as none other than the Prince of Darkness himself, Lucifer.

Lucifer was released from hell in Supe's season finale last month, although we never caught a glimpse of the little devil's face. All of that will change when Pellegrino debuts in the show's Sept. 10 season premiere.

So, does this mean we've seen the last of Jacob on Lost? An ABC rep couldn't be reached for comment, but here's a potential clue: Pellegrino isn't joining Supernatural as a full-time series regular; his status is listed as recurring. You do the math.

Thoughts on this red-hot piece of casting? Sound off

J.J. Abrams speaks about that Star Trek sequel, M:I 4 and Fringe

    Thanks to The ODI.

The success of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek has fed speculation about a sequel: Will it include a return to classic Trek missions, albeit from the perspective of the new timeline? Speaking with SCI FI Wire on Wednesday night at the Saturn Awards, Abrams said that he is excited about that possibility but won't rule out new ideas either.

"The great thing is we're all open to anything," Abrams said. "I think the fun of where we are with Trek is that it can and should just be fully explored. So I think to limit ourselves to only new adventures would be a mistake. But I also think we want to take advantage of this moment and figure out what's the most exciting version for the new audience as well."

Meanwhile, Abrams spoke a bit about the proposed fourth Mission: Impossible movie. Each Mission: Impossible film was a vehicle for a director to lend his own vision to the franchise: Brian De Palma, John Woo and Abrams directed very different films. The recent announcement that Abrams was returning to the series makes him the only director to do two of the films. His Mission Impossible III was the best-reviewed (though the lowest-grossing), but Abrams indicated he is not planning to direct the fourth.

"Well, there's no director attached to the movie yet," Abrams said. "We're just developing an idea, which I think is very cool, so we're just starting it out, but it's exciting. It's a fun idea, and it's always an honor to work with Tom [Cruise, who is also producing]. We would definitely produce the movie together, and details from there we're still figuring out."

Abrams also spoke about his Fox sci-fi TV series Fringe, which returns for a second season in the fall. Expect the show to address the shocking reveal in the season finale. (Spoilers ahead!) If there is an alternate world where New York's Twin Towers still stand in 2009, does that mean there was no Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack in that world? Or did 9/11 just strike a different landmark?

"You have to watch to see how that plays out," Abrams said. "That was a big decision for the show, because it was obviously a potential sensitive kind of choice. But I feel like, given what our story is, given the world of Fringe, I think it will be very satisfying."

    5. LOST
    "Pilot" 9/22/2004 & 9/29/2004
What, exactly, were they thinking? The writers, the directors, the cast—did they really think there was a network series in this bizarre pilot about a downed airplane and the mystical mayhem it unleashes? Maybe not, and viewers are all the better for it. Damon Lindelof says he and cocreator J.J. Abrams found it “incredibly liberating” to craft a pilot that no one seriously expected to work as a weekly series. “It freed us up to do things that normally would’ve scared the hell out of us.” Not that the weight of their endeavor completely escaped them. One line in the pilot particularly resonated with foreboding for Lindelof. “I’ll never forget the day we were shooting Dominic Monaghan [Charlie] as he looked around and said, ‘Guys, where are we?’” It was that moment, Lindelof says, when he realized, “Wow. We might actually have to answer that question one of these days.”

No, Walt Disney World isn't planning a Lost attraction

If you were hankering to join Jack, Kate and Sawyer on Walt Disney World's new Lost-themed attraction, sorry to disappoint you, but it's all a hoax.

The report on the Disney's Folly Web site was posted by a joker named Jason, who 'fessed up to his prank on this message board.

"It wouldnt' take much digging to find that my intro to this blog (kicked off a few weeks ago) describes Folly and Faux as a sort of playful April Fool's stab at Disney-related wishes. Disney fans are always tossing around rumors and ideas for the old Discovery Island, and Lost constantly comes up. So I knew with my exhaustive fandom, I could cook something up. I shouldn't have underestimated the viral power of the Internet."

    Whatever.

Here's a piece of the original post:

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts has announced extensive plans to convert the old Discovery Island in Bay Lake to a new Lost-themed attraction. Lost Island is set to receive guests by the Summer of 2011, a year after the show concludes its six-year run on ABC. ...

The immersive experience will bring guests to the islands in disparate ways, providing two distinct experiences per each trip to the island. The attraction is also unique as the exploration of the island in its entirety forms one complete experience; however, each area of the island works as an individual attraction.

"We have this great experience for the Swan station, which guests get to tour as if they were the survivors first discovering the infamous 'hatch'. But suddenly things go wrong and this station tour becomes a ride! It's an extension of the Imagineering used in rides such as The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Star Tours taken to the next level!", explained [Celandine Coda, vice chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts].

Celandine Coda is an anagram for "Oceanic Landed," FWIW.

Someone seriously needs a real job.

    Mr Eko Meets Monk

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje disappointed Lost fans and angered producers when he asked to be released from his role as Mr. Eko after his parents passed away in 2006. “It was a very traumatic year,” he says. The Brit would now welcome a return to Hawaii and a fat paycheck from ABC. “To be able to give that rich character some completion would be nice,” says Adewale, who stays in touch with fellow Lost corpses Harold Perrineau (Michael) and Dominic Monaghan (Charlie).

Back at work, Adewale has roles in the big-screen “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” and Monk, both bowing August 7. On the final season of the USA mystery, he’ll prove to be the catalyst to Monk unlocking his wife’s murder.

“My character comes from Nigeria to America to find out what happened to his wife, who was killed in a hit-and-run,” Adewale says. “In the process I come across Monk, who lost his wife in a similar manner. It’s a sweet, sad story that reignites Monk’s fervor to solve her murder.”

Thanks to B3rt4 for the heads up.

The Season 5 finale's unnamed "Man No. 2" is the No. 1 topic in the new Getting Lost video. Who (or what) is this being that would eventually find a "loophole," pose as a resurrected Locke and order Ben to slay Jacob?

In this video, I share Getting Lost viewers' top theories, which are plumbed from such places as the Bible, Egyptian lore, and the creepy chamber situated beneath the island's Temple.

Next, the "man in black" himself — Deadwood alum Titus Welliver — reveals what he knows about his alter ego's actual name. The actor then shares his interesting take on the island's ultimate pecking order as it relates to Jacob and... well, whomever.

We then wrap things up with a new Burning Question.

Bolivian TV falls for Air France crash hoax

Update: 26th June Thanks to Christy from a lost-spoliers yahoo group translated and gave permission to share the bolivian news story translation. Her comments are in parenthesis.

"We want to show you these images. This first image. Pay attention. This picture was apparently taken from one of the passengers moments before the collision And after it broke apart. This pictures were recovered from the memory card of a camera. The first is a hole in the fuselage in which, if you pay attention you can see the tail of the plane and a vertical image of the plane. And the second picture, one of the passengers was thrown off the plane through the hole. They were taken by a digital camera Casio z750 (yes, they even have the cameras make and model). The remains of the camera were found in the Cachimbo mountains in Brazil (didn't it crash in the middle of the Atlantic? No mountains within thousands of miles?). Apparently the camera was destroyed but the memory was recovered. Check the camera's serial number, the owner was identified as Paolo Muller (even it's owner!), a theater actor for kids from the outskirts of Porto Alegre. You can imagine the photographer was standing up during the turbulence so that he could take this images second after the tail broke off. The camera was found close to piece of the cabin. The movement of the structure probably made the engines brake off, slowing down the falling speed (WTF?!) and protecting in some way the electronic equipment but unfortunately not the victims."

Thanks to Terry and others for sending this in.

Bolivian TV channel PAT has been left looking a bit daft after broadcasting extraordinary images of the last moments of Air France flight 447, lost over the Atlantic on 1 June:

According to the report, the snaps were retrieved from a recovered Casio Z750, which was subsequently traced via the serial number to its owner - "Paulo G. Muller, an actor from a well-known children's theatre on the outskirts of Porto Alegre".

In fact, the camera can be traced to ABC Studios and sharp-eyed readers will notice that the photographs feature well-known actress Evangeline Lilly, aka Kate Austen from TV series Lost.

PAT has fallen hook, line and sinker for a hoax email, and to add to its embarrassment, has failed to appreciate that while the flight 447 disaster occurred at night, the images represent the daytime fictional break-up of Oceanic Flight 815
