Claim to Fame: Was the biggest cheese on Lost Island until Locke pulled that unfair trick and came back to life.

Evangeline Lilly Makes FHM's 100 Sexiest of 2009

    94) Evangeline Lilly: Pint sized, powerful and unspeakably hot, Evangeline Lilly admits that the other girls auditioning for the part of Kate Austen in Lost probably wanted to kill her when they saw her CV. "They were thinking, 'I've done all this work and here you are at the audition with no experience," she says, still mystified as to how she managed to bypass the years of slog and land the TV gig of lifetime.

We think the knock-out smile and the smoldering sex appeal may have had something to so with it, but there's more to Evangeline Lilly than that: she's a bright, smart, free-spirited girl who has previously spent time working as a missionary and only got into modeling to help pay her university fees.

If you could have played any other character on Lost, who would it have been and why? —Christine
Good question! Terry O’Quinn’s character [Locke], but I don’t have the wisdom that his age naturally brings. That character’s so vulnerable and struggling off the island. But on the island, he’s such a badass. That dichotomy would be fun to play.

If you were a Lost writer, which characters would you have hooked up on the show because of the great chemistry the actors have with each other? —Chlo
Ana Lucia and Sawyer would have been a fun, volatile romance after their animalistic meeting out in the woods.

Out of all of Sawyer’s nicknames, which is your favorite? And have you ever ad-libbed any? —Robert
Stay Puff for Hurley. Mr. Clean for Locke. Slingshot Sally for Ben’s daughter, Alex. I came up with Sweet Cheeks for Shannon in the pilot. I also ad-libbed one they didn’t use. I called Ken Leung Ping-Pong when he had a grenade in his mouth!

Since playing Sawyer, have you had any nightmares about islands, being polar-bear food, bombs or time travel? —Yonomeaburro
Constantly! And I’ve had dreams of being with cast members on a boat that changes into a magic carpet.

Do you think that Sawyer will ever meet his daughter, Clementine? —Sally
Wow, I have no clue. That’s something I would like to see. Even if they don’t meet, his intention to meet her would be important to me. To see him off the island with her name and address on a piece of paper.

Please tell me you are not really going to shave off all that beautiful hair when the show is over. Are you? —D.J.
I did say I was going to shave a Mohawk in when we wrapped the last day, and I may still. Were it not for Lost, I would have changed it up by now.

Why did you let go of me and watch me fall to my death? That was not cool. I thought we had something. —Juliet
Oh, God! I prefer brunettes. Kidding! I did not let go of her. She let go of me!

Thanks to Eileen for the heads up.

There are so many things I miss about "Lost" when we go into this eight-month inter-season drought. The complex storylines, the sonic boom that accompanies the shocking pre-commercial break smashes to black, the pretty people who populate the island.

Yes, more than "Gilligan's Island" or the first seven days of "Survivor," "Lost" features the most heart-quakingly gorgeous people to ever lay their soles to sand. Jin, Sun, Boone, Kate, Jack, Juliet and Sawyer lead the charge, but Eko, Libby, Sayid, Shannon and Vincent (yeah, what?) could easily be mentioned in the same breath.

To tease the launch of the show's final season Josh Holloway brought his cavernous dimples to TV Guide magazine's winter preview issue and they've been kind enough to give us two of the snaps that didn't make the mag.

I know, if these were left on the cutting room floor, how hot are the pics that actually made it inside the magazine? Find out for yourself when TV Guide's winter preview hits newsstands Monday!

What a pleasant surprise to find out that a few years trapped in the 1970s Dharma Initiative transformed shifty con man James "Sawyer" Ford" into heroic leader Jim LaFleur. Holloway's delicate shift in character retained Sawyer's rakish charm, but imbued him with a welcome sense of gravitas.

Thanks to Daniel for the heads up.

While reading this discussion between TV critics Maureen Ryan, Alan Sepinwall, and James Poniewozik, I was reminded of the thought I had while mainlining the fifth season of Lost this weekend.

As I've gone back and given Lost a full viewing after dipping in and out over the first three seasons or so, one thing has impressed me more than any other, which is that, as comes up in the linked discussion, there is absolutely no way for Lost to be entirely successful. This goes beyond the nitpickiness of viewers, I think; it goes beyond the fact that some people are never satisfied; it goes beyond the dissecting culture of Internet television fanaticism. It's not that it can't be perceived as entirely successful -- though that's certainly true. It's that it can't be actually entirely successful in wrapping up the sprawling, complicated, decades-spanning mystery it's created.

And credit for the impossibility of the task goes, really, to the scope of the ambition of the show's primary thinkers, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse (and, to a lesser extent, J.J. Abrams, who created it but hasn't really stayed involved), and of the rest of its writers. The reach of this show will inevitably exceed its grasp; that's often how ambition goes, and here it is, happening on network television on a show that has been, at times, very, very popular.

We're going to talk about what's happened so far, after the jump, so don't be upset

Lost Star shot test footage for Avatar

James Cameron has revealed that he shot early test footage for Avatar with Lost star Yunjin Kim.

Speaking to Popular Mechanics, the filmmaker said that he convinced studio 20th Century Fox to spend $10 million so that he could film the scene where protagonist Jake Sully first meets Na'vi alien Neytiri.

"We shot a five-minute scene," Cameron said of the early prep work. "I hired two actors, turns out one of them is now quite well-known - Yunjin Kim who is in Lost. There was Yunjin and a guy named Daniel Best. I took these two young actors and just did the scene. From that we took 40 seconds, because that's all we could afford, and had [visual effects studio] ILM take it through to a finished product."

Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington went on to fill Kim and Best's roles when the sci-fi blockbuster eventually went into production.

ABC's 'Lost' kicking off final season on the beach

ABC plans to launch the final season of "Lost" with an advance screening during a special Sunset on the Beach, and stars from the show have been invited.

The event is scheduled for Jan. 30 at Queen's Surf Beach in Waikíkí, and fans from as far away as Ireland and Afghanistan are already planning to come.

The sixth season of "Lost," which has been based in Hawai'i since it began in 2004, will have its national broadcast premiere three days later, on Feb. 2.

The network could not yet confirm which cast members would be there, but previous previews have featured most of the primary stars.

Thousands of screaming fans packed the beach when ABC held advance screenings in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Much to their delight, cast members — including Josh Holloway, Evangeline Lilly, Matthew Fox, Daniel Dae Kim and Jorge Garcia — repeatedly broke away from interviews with national media to shake hands, exchange hugs and sign autographs.

For the final season's premiere, the show's executive producers — Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof — are expected to attend, ABC said. Other guests will be announced later.

Mayor Mufi Hannemann said the city was proud to host the premiere because "Lost" was good for the Islands.

"More than any other show, 'Lost' has proven that Honolulu can be an industry production center because the cosmopolitan nature of our great city gives us the ability to double for dozens of places around the world, and we have the talented crew and burgeoning infrastructure to support this industry," Hannemann said.

Alison Gormley and her husband Adrian Hopkins plan to fly from their home in Ireland for the premiere, even though they vacationed on O'ahu last month. Gormley, 32, said she booked their January flight before the event was confirmed.

"We are counting down the days," she said via e-mail. "We arrive in Honolulu the night before the event ... and not even the thought of severe jet lag and adjusting to opposite time zones can take away our excitement."

A fan of the show since it first aired — she said it has taken her on a journey — Gormley is still in shock over the chance "to see our favorite 'Losties' on the red carpet and watch the world premiere on a 30-foot screen under the stars on O'ahu."

Jonine Woods, a former Hawai'i resident serving with the U.S. Air Force in Afghanistan, plans to celebrate the end of her six-month deployment at the event. "Lost" is her favorite show, she said.

"I think it is a once in a lifetime chance to get out of the norms of life and meet other fans of the show," the 27-year-old Woods, a staff sergeant, wrote in an e-mail.

"It is also a chance to not see it on a little TV and experience it in a theater type setting, the way I think 'Lost' should be seen," she said. "Who knows, I might be able to meet a few cast members."

    5. "Lost," ABC. Although the cliffhanger ending wasn't the best that "Lost" has ever produced, the emotional peaks were exceptional and the complicated storytelling got both stranger and more fun for those who have been on this dizzying, nose-bleed inducing ride from the start. The final season is about to start and there's a real sadness that something this creative on network television is ending.

Neither actor would mention whether he would be “heading to Hawaii” anytime soon. Asked if they knew each other, Kelley said “We’ve met up a few times (in the past).” Beaumon also mentioned that he had been actively watching Flash Forward and gave a thumbs up to a fan’s suggestion that the LOST finale be shown live in movie theatres for fans to gather together.

Both actors spent over 2 hours wrapping gifts donated by Nickelodeon, Stress Free Kids, and Entertainment Earth for mentoring charity 2Family.org

Here are Parts Two and Three

[The following conversation took place on September 24th, 2009. The second season of Fringe had premiered one week earlier; the first episode of FlashForward, a big-budget paranormal drama tipped as ABC's successor to Lost, was set to air that night.]

GQ: JJ, is there anything in particular that you learned from the Lost experience that you brought to Fringe?

Roberto Orci [writer/executive producer, Alias; co-creator/executive producer, Fringe; executive producer/co-writer, Star Trek]: We needed Damon and Carlton.

JJ Abrams [co-creator/executive producer/director, Lost, Fringe and Alias; director/co-writer/executive producer, Star Trek]: And they weren't available. No—my involvement with Lost really ended within the first season. And so a lot of what I learned from Lost was what people watching the show learned, which is what great characters and story looked like. I think the work that Damon and Carlton do on that show is obviously a high-water mark for TV, and the ambition. In terms of this show, it's a very different show. Every show's a different show. It's easy, in retrospect, to make comparisons, but when you're in the thick of it, when you're working on something, even if it's the same people, it's suddenly a whole new nightmare challenge. And you scramble the best you can to do your best work, and it's especially difficult when you're doing a mythology show that's also aspiring to be a standalone show. Lost was very lucky early on to get really good ratings. So the network was okay with mythology, and the show's never apologized for it. Fringe, up front, said, "Hey, it's a standalone show, and every week you're going to get your own little separate mystery." But the fans who come back to watch the show-- and tonight, fingers crossed, that happens again-- are the people who typically like the mythology. So there's a weird dynamic that goes on that I still haven't learned, from Alias to Lost to Fringe, how to necessarily solve.

GQ: How to please those two audiences simultaneously, you mean.

Abrams: Yeah. This group dealt with that with Star Trek. How do we do something that's wholly original, while also doing something that's wholly reverent of what's come before? And how do you do a show that's a week to week closed story and still tell a larger overarching story? It's hard to please both sides of that all the time. It can be done in some instances, and other times, y'know, we fail miserably. But that's definitely one of the challenges that we face, doing the show.

GQ: Was that always your intention, that Fringe would be more of a one-and-done show that didn't depend as much on people following the mythology over a season-long arc, the way Lost does?

Alex Kurtzman [writer/executive producer, Alias; co-creator and executive producer, Fringe; co-writer/executive producer, Star Trek]: Yeah.

Orci: We always thought it would be both. That we'd have a little clue in each episode, but then every few episodes, you can have a highly mythological serialized episode. But in general, we always try to have that right balance.

Kurtzman: Which is a challenge, because I think our collective instincts veer toward serialization.

Orci: From watching Lost, I learned characters. That characters are key. The smallest character moment can be a gigantic revelation, as a viewer.

Thanks to Annie for the heads up.

How did you find out you were nominated?
"I'd turned the phone off when I went to bed last night here in Hawaii, so I woke up this morning to a whole lot of messages and texts."

Have you heard from any of your co-stars yet?
"I see here on my computer screen a message from Jorge [Garcia, who plays Hurley] just popped up. He's always very sweet. It says, 'Nice job. We'll be rooting for you.'"

How many Globe nominations is this for you?
"This is my first. That's an award that usually doesn't include Lost. I can't remember anything since Season 1, so I'm flabbergasted."

You're shooting your tenth episode of the new season now. Are you hopeful that your final
season will award the show more award recognition?
"I think next year, after the conclusion of the final season, when people see the strength and style of how we go out, I expect Lost to have more recognition."

Whose performances so far in the new season have impressed you most?
Terry O'Quinn [Locke] is continuing to turn in his staggering work. And it's a great year for Josh Holloway [Sawyer]. He just continues to get
better and better. His storylines are turning out to be gripping and very moving at the same time."

Your wife, Carrie Preston, is on True Blood, which also got lots of nominations. So she should get to go to the ceremony too.
"Oh yeah. We'll be there together. I think she might be shooting today, or taking care of our ongoing plumbing nightmare at our home. She might be up to her neck in water."

How are you going to celebrate today?
"Sometimes the best thing to do is counterbalance it with some really mundane domestic pursuits. I might actually do some ironing today. I have to start getting ready for the awards!"

    Lost Nominated for WGA

Awards heavyweights "Mad Men," "30 Rock" and "The Office" and buzzed-about newcomer "Modern Family" led the TV field for the 2010 Writers Guild Awards with three nominations each.

AMC's "Mad Men" and NBC's "30 Rock" and "The Office" are in the running for best drama/comedy series, and each received two nominations for episodic writing. "Family" made the cut for best comedy series, best new series and best episodic writing for a comedy series.

ABC's "Family" was one of two new shows to break into the best series categories along with Fox's quirky high-school dramedy "Glee," which faces "Family" in the best comedy series and best new series fields.

While the WGA Awards are still in its nomination phase, Fox's "The Simpsons" can already uncork the champagne. The veteran series is assured to win the animation category after landing all five nomination slots.

The biggest surprise among the series nominees was HBO's low-key baseball comedy "Eastbound & Down," which landed a best episodic comedy nomination for the pilot.

In the drama series category, Emmy nominees "Mad Men," AMC's "Breaking Bad," Showtime's "Dexter" -- whose fourth season exploded in the ratings -- and ABC's "Lost" will face DirecTV/NBC's cult favorite "Friday Night Lights."

On the comedy side, "30 Rock," "The Office" and newbies "Family" and "Glee" are joined by HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm," which is coming off a strong "Seinfeld"-themed season.

In the new series field, "Family" and "Glee" will square off with the CBS drama "The Good Wife" and two off-beat pay cable comedies, HBO's "Hung" and Showtime's "Nurse Jackie."

In addition to the two episodes of "Mad Men," including the penultimate episode tackling the John F. Kennedy assassination, the episodic drama noms went to the two-hour season opener of "House," as well as one episode each of HBO's "Big Love" and "True Blood" and "Breaking Bad."

Among half-hours, pair of episodes from "30 Rock" and "Office" will face the pilots of "Family" and "Eastbound" in a field that has been expanded to six nominees.

"The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" earned its first major nomination, for best writing on a variety show. It will compete with Comedy Central's duo of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and "The Colbert Report," HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher" and NBC's "Saturday Night Live."

HBO and Lifetime scored multiple nominations -- two each -- in the longform categories.

HBO's "Grey Gardens" and Lifetime's "Georgia O'Keefe" were nominated in the original screenplay category alongside MTV"s "Pedro," while HBO's "Taking Chance" and "Lifetime's "America" will compete in the adaptation category.

CBS' recently canceled "As the World Turns" is up for a daytime drama writing award alongside ABC's "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" and CBS" "The Young and the Restless."

Hero. Villain. Mom. - Elizabeth Mitchell Interview

Thanks to Cristiane for the heads up.

She has creeped you out as Dr. Juliet Burke on Lost and enthralled you as FBI agent Erica Evans on V. And while for many she may be a newcomer to the television landscape, Elizabeth Mitchell has been making a name for herself on the small and big screens for the last sixteen years, including sharing the spotlight with Tim Allen in The Santa Clause 2 and 3. Lately she’s had her hands full juggling two major sci-fi series and raising a four year-old son. Taking a break from all of that, Mitchell spoke to ADD from her home in Bainbridge Island, Washington, touching upon everything from stardom to motherhood to the future of television viewing.

You have this knack lately for picking these shows that involve multiple storylines. And Lost’s season five finale left you with quite the cliffhanger.
Not dramatic or anything. It happens every day in my life.

Are you going to be able to handle this extra commuting between these two shows?
It hasn’t been a problem so far. I know at some point it might be, but it hasn’t so far.

You sound much sweeter than Juliet. I remember interviewing Michael Emerson a couple of years ago, and he is obviously much different than his character on Lost. I asked him about people coming up to him and if they were friendly or afraid of him.
I’ve gone through airports with him, and in some ways they’re afraid of him, but it’s more in that way of, “You’re bad.” I think they know. Some people say, “He just creeps me out.” I’m like, “Well, that’s his job.”

Kate and Sawyer, Two Sexual Icons in Hawaii

Thanks to Liz for the following.

This is a new Spanish Josh Holloway/Evangeline Lilly interview, done during the filming of Episode 10. Please credit trueblue from Fishbiscuitland for the English translation.

Kate and Sawyer, Two Sexual Icons in Hawaii

In case you make landfall on an island that is deserted at first and have to choose the company you'll keep, a good portion of the LOST audience would stay with Kate or Sawyer. A freckled girl with green eyes who would rob a bank as easily as she would steal your heart? A well-read, tough guy who underneath the guise of an aggressive front hides the noblest feelings? Yes, them. An island, and on the island, a beach, and on the beach, a man and a woman. They act on Police Beach, where the survivors of flight 815 set up camp. But that was within a few hours and within a few hours more. Evangeline Lilly and Josh Holloway, must-have "guests" in Oahu, set aside the filming of the sixth season in order to fulfill their duty with the media, always for icons. And here are two. Disney-ABC insists: "Photography is not allowed." Now more than ever...what a pity!

    At First Sight

Evageline Lilly comes off duty with naturalness. She smiles relentlessly. She sports a mane of dark hair, although she warns that this "look" differs from those of her last scenes, the 10th episode of season six: "This hair is only for you guys." Matching with that, the shoes on her feet, a dazzling black, patent leather. She is even skinnier than she appears on the small screen. Her summer dress is a bright red, the ultimate factor that would open the doors of any party for her, contrasts with the scratches on her arms, so abundant that one hesitates to even ask the cause.

Josh Holloway appears guffawing. Dressed up light jeans and a shirt thick, generously open and rolled up at the sleeves. His blond hair was shining, but less than his teeth, highlighted by the dark and the two-day old beard, enclosed. Being photogenic is always on his side, no matter the angle. Charming, he asked those present about their stay. After he has greeted everyone, he directs himself towards the video cameras surrounding him: "Hello, digital friends." Asked if he likes giving interviews, he lets out a new roar of friendly laughter and shoots out a look of complicity.

    Fame

Her: LOST is more popular internationally than in the U.S. It is wonderful that the whole world accepts what you are creating. I am totally fascinated by other cultures. I like to 'absorb' the people and their customs, but it is impossible to 'absorb' when you are 'absorbing' you, because they are interested in Kate at all times. They have ruined travelling for me.

Him: I immediately knew it was going to be a hit. I went to a bar and saw the audience for the pilot episode. The next day I went to that same bar, all sweaty because I had just come from the gym. Then, two girls were standing staring at me and said, “Uh!” [Sawyer makes a sound that might denote either approval or disgust] '. And I realized I could no longer go out like this. Now try to go to places presentable.

    Sex Symbols

Her: Still, I have a very normal life. I have benefited so much from the series. It doesn’t matter what I want to do: LOST has given me the opportunity to choose. Most important is to be able to enjoy that freedom.

Him: It's funny being a sex symbol, because I'm 40 years old, married and have a daughter. I tend to point out to my wife: “You see? They still like me!” If I were 22 and single, things would surely be different. Now I have other interests in life. I want to be with my family. There is tremendous pressure and I understand my role, but I am a very homely guy.

    Shared Love

Her: Kate truly and genuinely loves both [Jack and Sawyer]. I've been thinking about this to myself for six years and done research on it. It is possible to love two people at once. There is a different kind of love for each one. When I watched Kate in the third season, I wanted to hit her over the head with something. She was quite fickle, from one to the other and back again. I was desperate, but not anymore. It's nice to see how she can now love them both without having to jump from one bed to another.

Him: I completely believe it: it is possible to love both of them at the same time [Juliet and Kate]. They are different kinds of love. Kate simply exists. And Sawyer's love for Kate is undeniable. Both have tried to avoid it in every way possible, but it doesn’t matter: they get stuck together once again [Holloway gives a clap and narrows his hands]. On the other hand, the relationship with Juliet is different. He chose that relationship. It's something that requires nurturing with friendship and sacrifice.

    Characters

Her: Kate is sweet and stubborn. No one likes you if you're too stubborn, and she is stubborn to the extreme. But she has a big heart. It's the type of person that, whether they know you or not, if you are in danger or need anything, they will help you. Their immaturity makes it so that she cannot help herself, but she can help others. We are one in the same: for example, as with Kate, I love climbing trees [that explains the scratches on her arms and the band-aid that tops her thumb]. In our hearts and in our cores, we are the same person.

Him: One of the most brilliant things that the writers have done with Sawyer is that he is pursued by Karma. Each time he does something wrong, he gets a beating or something to the like. I think that is why he is still alive: because he is constantly paying for what he does to people

    Evolution

Her: LOST had potential to be good with the female roles. And I think I lost it a bit. The series is heavily dominated by men.

Him: It's been phenomenal to grow with the character. The writers are brilliant. It is rare that a television series never repeats phrases or situations.

    The Finale

Her: It will have a bittersweet taste. I assure you I will cry when the season is over, but it's because I really miss everything. The team, the cast... the entire LOST family. They have cared for me during these six years. It's very sad, but there it is: I signed a contract. The fact that my life will once again be mine and I can go out and enjoy all the wonderful opportunities that this series has given me makes me very excited. I'm 30 and everything ahead of me. I'll start to live again. It's my turn.

Him: Don’t ask me about it because I don’t have a clue. The truth is that I am worried, especially for Sawyer. I hope he gets a second chance off the island.

    What Now?

Her: I don’t usually make plans. I am an “opportunist.” I go wherever the wind takes me, but I've been very involved in humanitarian work and I want to do it again. The acting is a one-day job. I'm a writer and I write short stories, screenplays, children's stories ...

Him: For now, I know my wife, my daughter and I will stay here in Oahu for the rest of our lives.

How They Get LOST in Hawaii

Her: I surf, even though I haven’t done it for a while ... A bummer (downer). I get spots on my face, something that hadn’t happened to me before in my life. I'm from the North; I am not accustomed to tropical heat.

Him: What I like most about Oahu is my house. Because it's private! Of course, I have a boat, I go out sailing with my family, I fish, we cook the fish we caught in a cove, we drink a good wine ... It is a truly magical island.

IGN named LaFleur as one of the top TV moments of 2009

    Lost: DHARMA Chameleon
One of the greatest moments of Lost this past season came in the episode "LaFleur," when our stranded, time-sick Islanders landed back in 1974 and met up with the original DHARMA Initiative crew. But then something grand happened. We skipped ahead from 1974 to 1977. Sawyer, Juliet, Jin, Miles and Faraday, not wanting Team Polar Bear to think that they were members of The Others, had joined up, rank and file, with DHARMA. They'd taken jobs. They'd taken homes. They'd taken…lovers? How amazing was it to see Sawyer, the master of the "long con," affectionately settled down in his cookie-cutter home with his new squeeze, Juliet? All of a sudden now, Sawyer was the hero with the girl and he and Juliet had became our new favorite couple to root for. Jack and Kate had dissolved into a dysfunctional nightmare of stolen babies and prescription pills and now our hearts and dreams were squarely invested in the happiness of Pepe LaFleur and his sexy blonde motor-pool honey. As bad as things got messed up for them by the end of the season, at least these two got to have three quiet years of peace and harmony. That's more than you can say for anyone else that got…lost.

5 Things Hollywood Reuses More Than Plots

    #4. Fake Companies
Let's say you're trying to make a movie featuring a plane hijacking, a plane crash or anything bad happening to a plane. For some reason, the airlines just aren't willing to pay a product placement fee for the privilege of being shown as horribly dangerous, so you've got to invent your own. But do you really want to pay the art department a million bucks to design something that isn't going to be seen for more than a second, when that money could instead go toward the coke budget?

No, and therefore pretty much every time Hollywood needs to depict an airplane crash or a huge flying fireball, they fly Oceanic Airlines. You probably know them from Lost, but Steven Seagal was sucked out of an airlock on Oceanic Flight 343 in Executive Decision and Chuck tells us an Oceanic flight was shot down by a surface-to-air missile.

JJ Abrams - Planning Fictionalized Telling of "Man on Wire"

It wouldn’t be true to say JJ Abrams is adapting Man on Wire into a feature film, but that would certainly crossover with the truth and that’s probably the legend you’ll be overhearing in the line at the cinema. What Abrams is actually doing, specifically, is having his Bad Robot production company adapt Colum McCann’s novel Let The Great World Spin. McCann himself is writing the screenplay, telling a series of separate stories about a number of characters around New York at the time Phillippe Petit performed his high-wire stunt in the early 70s.

Hotties of the Decade: The Stars Who Made Us Sweat - Josh Holloway

"Holloway's been a pervasive feature on Lost and magazine covers for more than half of the decade, and his near-constant shirtlessness (better when wet?) has been so powerful on the Island that it could feasibly be the force responsible for the castaways' mysterious time-traveling. Suffice it to say that whenever Sawyer calls Kate ''Freckles,'' we pretend we have more of them and that he's really talking to us."

After including Lost in its best of the decade list, The Associated Press also named Lost as one of the best shows of 2009. Here's the part about Lost:

"Lost" (ABC). Another wacky, wacked-out season that showed no concern for time and space constraints and left the viewer's head reeling. The mind-boggling action on the island, and beyond, set things up for the final season in 2010 which — here's hoping — will bring everything home.

    • "Lost" (premiered September 2004). From its first episode (the dreadful plane crash on the island), this ABC drama demonstrated an epic, mind-bending sweep through time and space, with a vast array of characters. It doesn't always make sense (though maybe it will, with the series finale next year), but "Lost" has made one thing clear: With serialized TV, nothing is too way out or ambitious.
