Thanks to Belo for the heads up.
Not everyone was glee-ful at the Emmy Awards on Sunday night.
Most notably, departing epic drama "Lost" failed to nab any major trophies - and co-creator Damon Lindelof wasn't too quiet about it.
Following Michael Emerson and Terry O'Quinn losing the best supporting actor award to "Breaking Bad" star Aaron Paul, Lindelof tried to buoy the Losties' hopes.
"Do not give up hope!!! But Aaron Paul...AWESOME!!! Seriously people, do NOT GIVE UP!" he tweeted.
Unfortunately, "Breaking Bad" also nabbed the award for best actor from under Matthew Fox's nose, which, along with "Mad Men's" win for best series, appeared to send Lindelof over the edge.
"For the love of God do NOT... oh. Wait. Damn. Okay, fine. It is now okay to give up," he concluded on Twitter. "Thank you for your energy, guys. We felt it."
"Mad Men" creator Matthew Weiner was off the podium long enough to take Lindelof's side.
'Like a lot of people, I thought "Lost" might win,' he told eonline.com.

Thanks to Zedman for the heads up.
Your hardest decision as showrunner?
CC: Firing anybody, particularly an actor who is dismissed not for any fault of his own, but because that's what the narrative demands.
Your favorite moment as a showrunner?
DL: Getting the call from ABC that we would get to end the series on our own terms.
What's your reaction when you're recognized by a fan of the show?
CC: It's cool but weird. Never in a million years did I expect that as a TV writer I'd ever have any kind of fame. Interestingly, about half the time people think I'm Ted Danson.
Your biggest fight with the network?
DL: There was an executive in the early days who felt there was too much gunplay on the show. This forced us to resort to physical beatings and torture … which made them miss the gunplay.
Your favorite "happy accident" in writing or producing the show?
CC: It has to be casting Michael Emerson in season two for a three-episode flyer as a mysterious "Other" captured by our survivors. He went to Hawaii and just took command of the show, ended up doing eight episodes that year, became a series regular the next, and we never looked back. Looking back, it's hard to imagine how "Lost" could ever have existed without him.
Your best collaborative moment on the set or with a network?
DL: There are so many. When the network executives finished screening the finale for the first time, we were prepared to beg them for the extra time to extend it another half an hour, but Barry Jossen just said, "You've got the time." No begging necessary. That pretty much categorizes our relationship with them all the way through.
Which shows have influenced your show?
CC: Since there weren't a lot of antecedents to "Lost," it's a show that was actually influenced as much or more by books than by other series. Some of the biggest influences were Stephen King, Kurt Vonnegut, C.S. Lewis' "Narnia" Chronicles and certainly the Bible.
"I wanted to give up when …"
DL: The pilot premiered to huge ratings, and we realized we were gonna have to do this for a while.
What would you want to say in an Emmy acceptance speech, but won't?
DL: "Dad, if you hadn't done such a number on me and then died before we could fully resolve our issues, I wouldn't be holding this right now. Thanks, man!"
CC: Ditto what Damon says. We took our shitty relationships with our dads and, as the saying goes, made those lemons into lemonade.

Thanks to chowwander for the heads up.
The bizarre, constant audio output of one particular mysterious Russian "Numbers Station" has changed, for the first time in 20 years. This might mean something bad is about to happen, or simply that someone finally remembered to switch tapes.
Here's the new message currently being beamed from Russian station UVB-76. The first person to successfully identify its meaning wins a 25-year vacation in Siberia's most desolate and inaccessible leisure resort:
UVB-76, UVB-76 - 93 882 naimina 74 14 35 74 - 9 3 8 8 2 nikolai, anna, ivan, michail, ivan, nikolai, anna, 7, 4, 1, 4, 3, 5, 7, 4
The true purpose of the bizarre constant transmissions of these stations has never really been understood. They may be spy messages, encryption codes, cricket scores, a technical requirement to keep a frequency open for future emergency use, "sexy spy" Anna Chapman beaming her phone number out to anyone who's interested—or possible long-term viral marketing for Lost II

Remember back in May when we all gathered around our television sets for the “Lost” finale, a two-and-a-half-hour extravaganza in which Matthew Fox’s character, Jack Shephard, went to his reward, and we learned that the flash-sideways universe was the afterlife or something?
Turns out “Lost” isn’t quite over yet. On Tuesday that ABC show’s sixth and final season was released on DVD, along with a boxed set containing the entire series, both with hours of bonus materials. And on Sunday the series will vie for 12 Emmy Awards, including those for best dramatic series and best lead actor in a drama — Mr. Fox, who’s nominated for the award for the first time.
Mr. Fox spoke recently with Dave Itzkoff for the ArtsBeat blog of The New York Times about his afterlife in the weird parallel universe where “Lost” has finished its run, and the day he said goodbye to Jack Shephard for good — or did he? These are excerpts from that conversation. Or are they? No, they definitely are.
Q. Does it feel strange to still be promoting “Lost” three months after the series came to an end?
A. Just because it’s done with its network run doesn’t mean that I’m done wanting the whole story to have its full effect on as big an audience as possible.
With the DVD and the box set of the series coming out, a lot of people actually see the series that way these days for the first time, so there’s still a big audience out there that hasn’t either ever experienced any of it, or hasn’t had the sixth season yet. It doesn’t feel strange at all — it feels like following through to the very end.
Q. Were you among the members of the “Lost” ensemble who went into a self-imposed media blackout immediately after the finale was shown?
A. That wasn’t an intentional thing for me — I think [the show runners] Damon [Lindelof] and Carlton [Cuse] knew that there was going to be a lot of questions about the way the show ended. I hear that there’s some people out there that were not tremendously satisfied with it. But I certainly haven’t gotten that feedback.
Q. So people were coming up to you on the streets in the days after, going, “Hey, nice death?”
A. Always in a positive way. They loved it. They really appreciated the six years of the show and all of our contributions to it. I think that the media might have wanted to create a little bit of, like, “Well, there’s some people that are dissatisfied with the way it ended,” and they want to make a story out of it. I certainly didn’t feel that in my experience. If there are people out there who were really dissatisfied, at least around me, they’re being awfully quiet.

Thanks to Zedman for the heads up.
"Lost's" Damon Lindelof and Elizabeth Mitchell had quite the comedy routine going during their presenting slot at Saturday's Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
Lindelof joked that maybe the show "wouldn't have been canceled" if they hadn't killed off Mitchell's Juliet character at the end of season five. He confessed that all the hype about how he and Carlton Cuse the decision to end "Lost" after six seasons was just to save face.
Then Lindelof informed the aud that he felt it was only fair to let Mitchell write their banter for the kudos after making her read his words for so long. He pretended to read unfamiliar copy from the TelePrompTer.
"Killing off Juliet was was one of the stupidest things I've ever done in my career. I don't know how I sleep at night...Let's face it, I am a poopyhead."

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - On the surface, this year's Emmy race for best drama would seem a "Lost" lock.
Not only did the show end its six-year run in a publicity blowout, but the TV Academy also relaxed its rules by allowing the final episode to be eligible for individual-episode awards (writing and directing), though the finale was about 30 minutes longer than its traditional two-hour time limit.
Such special consideration has insiders wondering: Is the academy leaning in "Lost's" direction ahead of the August 29 ceremony?
If Emmy's record with finales says anything, "Lost's" conclusion doesn't give it an automatic edge over competitors "True Blood," "Dexter," "Mad Men," "Breaking Bad" and "The Good Wife."
In fact, other than "The Sopranos'" series-ending win in 2007, no drama in its final season has won the series Emmy in the past decade, or even the one before. Which isn't to say that series enders haven't made it to the ballot.
"The West Wing's" nomination in its final season in 2006 seemed, at the time, to make it nearly unbeatable, especially considering it had already won the award four times. But that year, an especially strong season of "24" triumphed. Similarly, in 2005 "Six Feet Under" was laid to rest, but was unseated by a sci-fi upstart called -- you guessed it --"Lost."
In fact, before David Chase's controversial blackout on Tony Soprano, the last series to win the drama series prize in its final season was the British program "Upstairs, Downstairs," which snatched the 1977 statuette from fan favorites "Police Story" and "Baretta."
This bit of history might make "Lost"-ees even more anxious for a final series win -- unless they're too busy still debating the finale's philosophical meaning

Michael Emerson talks new show with Terry O'Quinn

Online Article,
Terry O'Quinn
Yesterday news broke that Terry O'Quinn was planning a small screen reunion with his "Lost" co-star Michael Emerson and today Michael has revealed to NYPost.com's PopWrap how this new show came to be.
Where did this idea come from?
Michael Emerson: It came from just goofing off around on the “Lost” set. It started as a joke: what will we do after “Lost?” Well we could have a vaudeville act or do songs & dances on the front porch of the old actor’s home. But we liked the idea, even though it began as a joke, more and more of working together again. So he asked, “what do you have lined up after ‘Lost?’” I said, "nothing, what do you have?" He said "nothing." We thought, would it be impossible to work together again? Is it out of the question? We decided it wasn’t -- if we wanted it to happen it could happen. So we made our wishes known to the kinds of people who make TV shows in Hollywood.
Is there a tangible idea yet?
Emerson: There’s maybe a half-dozen little baby ideas that are being batted around – you know how it is with the development of ideas in Hollywood: you throw something into the machine and when it comes out it looks nothing like itself any more. I don’t know if anything will come of it.
Will it be lighter?
Emerson: That was one of the ideas we were always tossing around – we’re both fairly funny guys who have lived in a dark place for a very long time on “Lost.” It might be fun to do something a little lighter in weight and a little more playful.
Fan reaction
Emerson: I do feel that there is support for us – although I’m also a little trepidatious about it too because sometimes it’s better not to go to the well repeatedly. There’s also the risk of things just not working out. That would be a sad thing, so we’ll be extremely careful. Very particular.

Thanks to Kat for the heads up.
NEW YORK – Michael Emerson confirms he and former fellow ‘Lost‘ star Terry O’Quinn are shopping around for ideas for a TV show.
Emerson says they both want something more lighthearted than ‘Lost.’ He hopes the show can acknowledge their “age and frailty.” Emerson says he envisions a show where, if their characters get hit in the face, they “don’t get up for a month.”
The 55-year-old Emerson and 58-year-old O’Quinn are both up for best supporting actor Emmy Awards.
Emerson says he is aware a segment from the ‘Lost’ final season DVD was leaked recently. Even though he stars in it, however, Emerson says he still hasn’t seen it.
The actor, who played Ben Linus in the ABC show that ended in May, says he does not really get the “whole I-have-to-see-it-before-the-rest-of-the-world mania.”

Thanks to Dave and lastxcallforsin and others for the heads up.
Weezer's new album will be called "Hurley" and the album art is a portrait of Jorge Garcia.
After putting a flying dog on the cover of 'Raditude,' Weezer are one-upping themselves for their upcoming eighth LP, 'Hurley.' This time 'round, they're forsaking an airborne animal for a celebrity: actor Jorge Garcia, aka Hurley from Lost.' As Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo tells Spinner, the album's name came easily once they settled on the photo.
"We struggled super hard trying to come up with an album title, trying to find some kind of phrase that summed up the whole aesthetic behind the album: 'Heavy Mental,' 'Smaller Than Life,'" Cuomo says. "I was coming up with all kinds of stuff, but ultimately, we just went with some random word that doesn't really have anything to do with anything. I just loved this photo of Jorge Garcia -- it just had this amazing vibe. We didn't want to do a fourth self-titled record and we knew people would refer to it as 'the Hurley record' even if left it without that title, so we just called it 'Hurley.' No words are on the cover because all we wanted was his amazing face."
Unfortunately for 'Lost' fanatics, the album doesn't feature any songs inspired by the hit show. In fact, Cuomo didn't even watch it until meeting Garcia (he's still watching the series, so don't spoil the finale for him). "I only made it through season two, so I was really nervous hanging out with Hurley/Jorge recently, because I didn't want to hear something about how it all resolves, or overhear anyone else talking about it," he says. "I really like the show though."
With the album art revealed, Weezer have decided to once again ask for fan submissions on Spinner wherein fans can come up with their own version of the below photo of Cuomo and Garcia. Download the picture from the provided links, edit it however you want and submit it via the comments section or e-mail. Cuomo will pick his favorite versions, autograph them and send them to the winners. The window for submissions ends Friday, Aug.13 at 5PM ET, so get working!

I have been a big fan of Michelle Rodriguez and she has had her share of ups and downs. Michelle is best known for her roles on LOST and the recent blockbuster the eco-friendly Avatar. Using her stardom she announced that at the "Sea No Evil" fundraiser that she will be joining the anti-whaling org on its next campaign.
Here a some more details about the story via Ecorazzi:
"I'm going to go on the next voyage," she said. "So you guys are actually helping to support the next team to go out to Antarctica and bust their asses on that ship, trying to save some whales. So, I'm going to be one of those people on board."
This isn't the first time a celebrity has announced their intention to join the crew of the Sea Shepherd on their Antarctic campaign. Back in the fall of 2008, it was revealed that Daryl Hannah would be accompanying Paul Watson and Co down under. That commitment was later reduced to "a week" and then turned into nothing but a visit to the ship and crew by the actress. Hannah later said that a conflict kept her from participating fully on the three-month long voyage - and I wouldn't doubt it if something similar happens with Rodriguez.

Thanks to Natalie for the heads up.
Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof has revealed that he received abuse from fans of the show on Twitter after the series finale had aired.
Accepting the Television Critics Association Award for 'Best Drama Series', Lindelof decided to read out to the audience some of the messages he had been sent.
One fan reportedly posted: "Hey, douche! Instead of backpacking in Europe or whatever the f**k you're doing, how about you give me six years of my life back?"
Another wrote: "My very first tweet. I started this account just to let you know how disappointed I am in you."
A third upset viewer accused Lindelof of being "an emotional terrorist".
The producer joked that one message - calling him "a dirty liar" - had been written by co-creator J.J. Abrams.
The final episode of Lost aired on ABC on May 23.
