BERLIN — Swiss distrib Ascot Elite has picked up a slew of titles for its 2008/09 slates, including assassin thriller “The Tournament,” and English gangster drama “Rise of the Footsoldier.”
Scott Mann’s “Tournament,” starring Robert Carlyle, Ving Rhames and Ian Somerhalder, was bought from U.K. sales company AV Pictures, while Julian Gilbey’s “Footsoldier” was acquired from Carnaby Intl.

Ascot also nabbed HDNet’s “Cocaine Cowboys,” Billy Corbin’s documentary about the Miami drug scene of the 1970s and 80s; Sahamongkolfilm Intl.’s Asian thriller “13,” about a contestant taking part in a game for his life; and HBO’s 1980s-set university comedy-drama “Starter for Ten,” starring James McAvoy.

Rounding out Ascot’s latest acquisitions was Odd Lot’s “Green Street Hooligans 2,” the sequel to Lexi Alexander’s hit that starred Elijah Wood, due out next year.
