LOST Media Mentions - DarkUFO

Mark St. Amant will direct Chicago playwright Huff's critically acclaimed "exploration into the universal themes of loneliness, loss, and the need to nurture." Performances by The Road will play Jan. 11, 2009-March 21, 2009. Opening is Jan. 16.

The production will feature Jenny Kern and Chet Grissom. Anderson will play Mr. Banks. This is Anderson's first local stage appearance in six years. In addition to playing hangdog castaway Bernard Nadler on "Lost," Anderson has enjoyed a film and television career that has spanned 30 years. He was the lecherous Principal in "Forrest Gump," attorney Holland Manners on "Angel," Donna's racist father in "La Bamba," Dr. Fonzie on "Friends," the befuddled FBI agent on "Everybody Loves Raymond," and appeared in "From the Earth to the Moon" as Dr. Tom Paine, head of NASA, and Stephen King's "The Stand" as Whitney. His role as the arrogant cardiologist Dr. Kaysen on "E.R." earned him a SAG Award (Best Ensemble). The Bird and Mr. Banks premiered at Chicago's Live Bait Theatre in 2006. According to Road, it "explores the world of Seymour Banks, once the most-wanted man in America. Fresh out of college with the highest score ever recorded on the notoriously thorny CPA examination, accounting firms all over the country courted him. Many years later, having settled for a less than stellar position at a mid-sized collection agency, Banks again becomes America's most wanted man - by police in three states and the FBI - and all because of a girl, a dark deed, and a baby bird called Peep."

Anderson's L.A. theatre credits include his Ovation-winning leading turn as the father in the Road's Napoli Millionaria and many productions at the Odyssey, including Road to Nirvana (L.A. Weekly Best Actor), Taking Sides, Rhinoceros and David Mamet's Edmond (L.A. Weekly, Backstage West Garland Awards). At LATC, Sam originated the role of Finney in Marlene Meyer's Kingfish and was directed by Simon Callow in Milan Kundera's Jacques and His Master.

Huff's plays include Pursued By Happiness at Steppenwolf, Gray City at American Repertory Theater and PTAP, Dog Stories at Stageworks/Hudson, Deep Blue Sea with CollaborAction at Steppenwolf, Harry's Way and Prosperity at Riverside Theater, Karaoke Night at The Hog at the NNPN New Plays Festival, Chicago Dramatists, and Bloomington Playwrights Project, and Leon and Joey at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. A Steady Rain, developed at NY Stage and Film and The Barrow Group in New York, played to sold-out houses during its six-week run at Chicago Dramatists and then went on to a successful commercial run for four additional months at The Royal George Theater. Nominated for four Jeff Awards, including Best New Play and Best Production, it will open Off-Broadway in the spring.

The Bird and Mr. Banks is produced for The Road by company members Leon Russom and Darin Singleton, with set design by Desma Murphy, lighting by Derrick McDaniel, sound by David B. Marling, costuming by Ann Closs-Farley, music design by Christopher Moscatiello and props by Jack Millard.

The Road Theatre presents in the Lankershim Arts Center, 5108 Lankershim Blvd., in the heart of North Hollywood's NoHo Arts District.
