LOST Media Mentions - DarkUFO

High-definition downloads have finally arrived on the UK version of Apple iTunes store.

Cult hit Lost, currently shown on Sky One in the UK, is available to purchase as HD downloads, weighing in at 2.91GB an episode.

Lost follows the lives of plane crash survivors on a mysterious tropical island, and has proved a popular hit particularly on DVD.

£41.99 gets you a season pass to the current season 5 of Lost, including future episodes, which will be downloaded automatically once signed up.

Individual episodes, so far two are listed, and cost £2.49 each.

Currently you can purchase Lost - The Complete Seasons 1-4 as a traditional DVD box-set for around £100.

Season 5 began in the US last week and was broadcast a few days later in the UK.

According to co-creator Damon Lindelof, season 5 "is about why the people who have left the island need to get back".

A free five-minute ‘Lost Starter Kit’ is also available as a free HD download.

HD downloads have been available on the US iTunes store for some time. HD television take up is more common in the US, with numerous popular shows and live events available in HD.

In the UK, the BBC, ITV, Channel Four and BSkyB currently offer a limited number of programs and channels in HD via satellite. Virgin Media meanwhile offers just one HD channel in BBC HD.
