LOST Media Mentions - DarkUFO

Thanks to Ben for the heads up.

Now that he's off the island, "Lost" director/exec producer Jack Bender has found another gig.
Bender has signed on to serve as director and exec producer on Syfy's "Alphas," a 90-minute pilot from scribes Zak Penn and Michael Karnow.

Bender just spent six seasons on "Lost" as the show's primary director and the head of its Hawaii operation. He helmed Sunday night's highly anticipated 2½-hour finale.

Production on "Alphas" will take place this summer in Toronto.

Syfy original programming exec vice president and Universal Cable Prods. co-head Mark Stern announced the Bender hire. "His vision and expertise are perfectly suited to the project, and will truly elevate it," Stern said.

"Alphas" centers on ordinary folks who develop extraordinary mental skills. The team members work to solve crimes while balancing their personalities and backgrounds.

"Alphas" comes from BermanBraun, and is exec produced by Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun. It's a "Lost" reunion for Bender and Braun, who was instrumental in the development of "Lost" as ABC Entertainment chair.

Besides "Lost," Bender's credits include "The Sopranos," "Alias," "Boston Public" and "Carnivale."

Bender was an actor earlier in his career, and is a painter, sculptor and mixed media artist.
