HUNTINGTON -- "We are Marshall" has been nominated in the Fan Favorite Football Flick category for Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival's Movie Mayhem 2008.
Anyone can vote for the film, which stars Matthew McConaughey and Matthew Fox. The movie tells the story of the rebirth of the Marshall University football program following the 1970 plane crash that killed most of the team, the coaches and several members of the Tri-State community.
The winner of the online poll will be shown at the Tribeca Drive-In screen in New York City on April 26.
Anyone can vote for a favorite by visiting the Web site at www.tribecafilmfestival.org/year-round/sportsfest/15938242.html.
The film festival takes place April 23 through May 4.
Other nominees in the category include "Friday Night Lights," based on the economically depressed town of Odessa, Texas, and its heroic high school football team; "Water Boy," the comedy starring Adam Sandler; and "Rudy," the 1993 film about a boy who overcomes the odds to play for the University of Notre Dame.
