LOST Media Mentions - DarkUFO

Thanks to Hoku for the heads up.

Daniel Dae Kim, a co-star of the "Lost" television series, pleaded no contest yesterday to a drunken driving charge pending against him since last year.

Kim entered the plea before District Judge William Cardwell, who ordered him to pay a $500 fine plus $212 in court costs, and to perform 72 hours of community service.

His driver's license had been administratively revoked for six months last November.

Kim, who plays the character Jin-Soo Kwan on "Lost," was arrested by an HPD officer Oct. 25 at 2:30 a.m. on South King Street after he was stopped for driving erratically.

His blood-alcohol level was 0.168, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08, and he was charged with driving while "highly intoxicated."

The prosecutor's office asked Cardwell to impose the maximum fine of $1,000, but the judge decided on half that amount.

Kim has already completed a mandatory 14-hour alcohol abuse class required of DUI offenders.

He is the third "Lost" actor convicted of a DUI offense in Hawai'i. Former cast members Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol.

Kim said after his arrest last year that he was "deeply ashamed and embarrassed" by the incident. "It saddens me to know that I jeopardized the welfare of the kind people of Hawai'i, a community that I love and call my home," he said.

Traffic court records show that Kim was cited for speeding here in 2006 and for driving without a valid vehicle safety check in January 2007.
